will be the only of our 8 commits that wont be rated as 4 stars after tomorrow.. and both will be 5.7 3 stars (highest 3 star rating you can get)..solid start to the class!

That is interesting...I kind of view John Thomas as a better TE prospect than Dillon Gordon. Then again, I hardly have any info to compare them to each other. Just thought of Thomas as a really good prospect. And Dural is the best WR in Louisiana which in normal years would make him a 4* by default.

I believe 247 sports rated Thomas the highest out of all the LSU commitments.

Not knocking Dural but his film is the least impressive of our commits. For a skill guy at a important position like WR, he doesn't seem to do much flashy.

I just think the fact that Dural was offered so early in a year where we have been and continue to be so selective with in-state players speaks more than his film, but I tend to give the coaches a lot of credit in this process. He reminds me of like a Tim Molton type recruit (which I guess doesn't sound great since he washed out due to injury, but his career could have easily gone the other way).

I thought Tim Molton was like an Armand Williams? Can the same comparison be made with Dural/Williams?

Avery is the highest.. followed by John Thomas. Only reason I say he will be a 3 star, at least to start out, is because I dont see Rivals using one of their 50 4 stars tomorrow on another LSU TE commitment.

Other teams are beginning to show interest in him. He is rock solid to LSU , but as his offer list increases so does his stock. Having a Bama and LSU offer is something alot of three stars can't say.

Does anyone have any highlights of Avery Johnson besides what's on YouTube? Those are the only highlights I saw.

I think that is an alright comparison too, but I like the Molton comparison better. Molton was offered early after a strong evaluation by LSU (summer camp in July), did not have particularly stellar highlights available, and was "disrespected" by the ratings services as a 3*...whereas Armand Williams was offered very late in the process only after we lost Mike Davis and Justin Hunter. In other words, Molton and Dural were both early priorities for LSU in spite of their relatively low rankings and lack of spectacular highlight video, whereas Williams was more of a plan B.

And then Molton showed up to LSU and started killing it in practice and playing well above his ranking, but unfortunately really screwed up his knee. So I view Dural similarly, and hopefully he is able to live up to his potential unlike Molton.

In every thread where Dural's name is brought up, you say the same thing. Thank god you are not a scout. The fact that Bama and LSU, two of the premiere programs in the nations, offered him so early should tell you to quit judging everything by his film. Every scouting service has him as the highest rated WR in Louisiana. Saban sure liked him enough to offer. He should be a 4* and will be by the end of the year. The kid is an outstanding athlete, despite your modest perception of a film. Come down to BB and see for yourself. Spring practice started this week. I promise you will change your opinion quickly.

I've seen both John Thomas and Dillon Gordon play and I believe John Thomas will be a much better college career. Dillon Gordon just seems to be your typical john curtis player.

I agree that Thomas will have the better college career. He is a stud, they are both prototypical NFL TE's though. The only thing I worry about with Gordon is baseball, I hear he is pretty damn sick

Went to high school with Big John. He was a freshman when I was a Senior. He has gotten a lot more athletic and physical over the years, has good hands

it's the year of desean smith next year from what shea says, so getting him may soften the blow of possibly losing gordon to mlb.
