Brockers was solid. He just needs to add a little more weight to his 6'6" frame.

Brockers played very well at times and got a start. I don't know if he got banged up or if he takes plays off, but he wasn't as good in the second half of the season.

Mingo is a beast, but what about Upshaw and Hightower? Just asking. LSU/BAMA defense is going to be amazing to watch.

+1 - remember he only started a few games as a RS Fr but he was a load for any OL to try and block. Should only get better. I don't think Chavis was off on giving high-marks to Brockers. I too think he's gonna be great.

Maybe. But perhaps chief's eye for talent results in premature proclamations on his part. Brockers should be very good but it's not like he's a household name. Mingo should be a beast once he gains weight and gets experience. Just not sure that describes where Barkevious will be in 2011.

Imagine a 2012 DL looking like this:

RE - Mingo rJr 6'5" 255
DT - Brockers rJr 6'6" 315
DT - Johnson So 6'3" 310
LE - Montgomery Jr 6'4" 260

DT - Ferguson rSo 6'4" 300
DE - Allen rSo 6'6" 270

I also figured in 15-20 lbs weight gain.

What I got out of the article..

Oregon has a totally new Oline. They want a play every 8 seconds. I foresee a LOT of false starts.

The sickest thing to me is that Mingo finished 5th at the LHSAA state finals in the 200 meters ! That is a defensive end ! Can you imagine a 325 pound offensive tackle trying to block a track guy ?! Unreal.. There should be 2 defensive lineman on this team who go by "Freak".

The three I remember were Brockers, Mathieu and Reid. Brockers was very good and Mathieu and Reid were studs. He has a very keen eye for talent and doesn't BS when he talks about his players.

FWIW, Chavis believes that Mingo WILL become the premiere pass rusher in the SEC BEFORE HE LEAVES LSU. This doesn't necessarily mean it will happen next year, as he probably won't be the best pass-rusher on the team. *fingers crossed

What I DO wonder is what this means about Sam Mont's knee. the downside to Chavis hyping Mingo is that it's possible that this means that SM isn't going to reach 2010 form.

Mingo was a better pass rusher than montgomery last year.
