I am 4 or 5 episodes in at this point (started it yesterday), and I like what I see so far.

Oddly enough, Michael Cera is the main one getting on my nerves thus far.

And I now am starting to understand where all the GOB love comes from. Dude is awesome.

If this series was so great, why was it cancelled?

Legit question. I've never really watched it. Although, I do love the "I just blue myself" picture.

YES. I'm glad you've taken heed of the board's suggestion, you absolutely will not regret it (although, I do find it strange you hate seinfeld, so who knows).

It take a few episodes to really get rolling but once it hits its stride you won't want to stop. Season 3 is definitely the weakest of the seasons, but 1 and 2 are gold.

It was cancelled because it was misunderstood I'm assuming. You have to watch this show from the very first minute to understand anything in later episodes.

IMO, unless you understand the characters you miss out on a lot of the humor. So if you tuned in and didnt know the backstory you might not find it funny and might not tune back in. Too much character development too soon?

great shows get cancelled all the time.

firefly, TSCC, Freaks and Geeks, etc.

This was a great show but most of america loves crap comedies like 2 1/2 men with cheap humor the audience doesn't have to think about. It's why Desparate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy can continue to pump out shite television and gets renewed every year while other shows with actual depth get cut.

If you haven't watched AD yet do yourself a favor and start.

it gets MUCH better. I was really indifferent until about midway through the first season

Legit question. I've never really watched it.

Its humor wasn't really geared at "dumbed down America" if that makes sense. It's definitely a lot more subtle with its jokes and themes. I had some friends back in the day who loved it, and I caught an episode once or twice, but without knowing any backstories, it wasn't as funny to me as it was to them.

Plus, good shows get cancelled all the time.

So I've heard. And I expect it to.

I'm only 4 episodes or so in, and already GOB's magic shite has me rolling. I can't wait to see his magic show (which I've seen previously on youtube).

I said the same about cera when I started a few months back. I guess its because I've been exposed to him playing that part for a while now

Well to be fair AD is not the kind of show you can pick up on while flipping channels. This show was made for DVD viewing.

Eta: my one big gripe was when they changed the actress who played Marta. She went from sexy to not so and it was distracting

its just 1 of those shows you need to watch about 5-10 episodes before you realize how fantastic it is. When I started catching them on netflix I remember being really unimpressed with the first few episodes and was going to start a thread calling it overrated on this board, but decided to keep watching and I'm so glad I did.

AD is one of my alltime favorite shows. Incredible cast including the Fonz. Tobias was a never nude. Priceless.

ahhhhhh, that makes sense now. I remember thinking she was smoking, then later with Michael she looked much worse and I just figured I remembered wrong or she just looked good dressed up for the awards show or something..

I love Gob, the funniest character IMO. I thought I would like Tobias more, but he hardly ever made me laugh. George Michael didn't bother me like he apparently did you guys.

Good series, liked it more than I thought. "Sure sure, the guy in the $600 banana suit, COME ON!" BTW, Gob and his suit makes an appearance in the beastie's new video:
