Did yall honestly think that our pitching would be holding us up and our hitting wouldn't be doing much of anything?

Nope, but I didn't think we were a super regional team either.

Yes. Absolutely. It was the first thing I thought when I looked at the returning lineup and the players we signed. That the pitching would be better than the hitting was entirely predictable.

Going into this season pitching was the ONLY question mark. No preseason writer in the country had questions about our hitting. Our pitching has been better than expected too with 2 true freshmen doing very well but getting losses while holding other teams to 4 hits.

What people should have been questioning was the leadership on this team as there is none. No vocal leaders at all only players who choose to lead by example..

Actually after watching fall practice yes. The coaches were much more concerned about our hitting after the fall than the pitching.

I remember after the CSF series Paul M. was in an interview. He said something along the lines of "Oh, we will see this team again in the CWS." I thought that was a little premature and overconfident. Now that statement is coming back at him hard.

I can't say I would have come to that conclusion. To be honest, after watching the first few series, I thought we might end up being VERY good because the pitching was better than I thought it would be.

But, in hindsight, I think we scored a lot of unearned runs (way more than average) over the first few weeks. And, even in games that we won easily, there were stretches where we would be shut down for 4 or 5 innings.
