Why do people in television and movies always go to dinner at 8?

Does anyone actually eat this late?

As a shitty thread failsafe, feel free to discuss any tropes that you believe only occur in screenplays.

They don't want to be rushed. They have the last seating.

Better yet, why do they always show a massive breakfast in the mornings and yet they eat one bite of bacon and leave for school.

I see. There must be something more than this provincial life.

Another thing that always bothers me: any time people walk into bathrooms, they have to splash water on their faces.

I generally eat dinner between 8 and 9. Plebeians eat early.

noticed this when I moved to Atlanta. People are much more likely to go to dinner at 8 or even 9 than in Shreveport. shite, my mom and aunt will go to dinner at 5:30

We never ate dinner before 9:30 growing up. Still don't.

Visit Europe and you'll find that in the larger cities most people do not consider eating dinner until 10pm. This is especially true on the continent.

I realize that the customs differ abroad... I just didn't realize that people ate so late in this country.
