Can someone give me the quick "do's" and "don't" as far as betting on professional baseball. I've tried some college football, did ok, but i rarely did any home work on the teams I was betting. I know baseball games can be just as unpredictable as any other sport, but I really like analyzing trends/ mathupus/ amongst players during different series. Before I open an account on bodog,if anyone who bets regularly can give me advice as to how to get started I'd appreciate it.

I plan on putting in around $25 and see where that take me over the course of the summer. Not looking to make a whole bunch of money, just looking to make small bets based on my own knowledge and any advice I may get from yall or books. More of a trial and error thing with small amounts of money. (For expample, how many bets should be made at a time, which games to stay away from, how to spot a sold parlay play, things of that nature. I'm new to this and am more interested in learning the system rather than go all in on a "sure lock". Thamks in advance

Starting pitcher has a ton to do with it. Bet the money line. Stay away from the +/- 1.5 runs. Ive had decent luck with 2 and 3 game parlays.

two team parlay favorites and keep in mind the best teams still lose 60 games a year

Pitchers vs. the lineup they are going up against, and how they have faired against each other in the past.

Baseball is unpredictable. If you have to ask this question, you probably shouldn't be betting on baseball. At least not with real money at first.

For me I have had success with the O/U, but I usually just do O/U plays when its the last of a three game series.

Other than that check out the starting pitcher.

FWIW I started out betting on sports the same way you're about to. It's fun learning the system but if theres one thing I have picked up, don't rely on other people's opinions, always your gut. They may be right sometimes, but I always beat myself up and want to over bet the next play when I take someone's advice over my gut and end up losing.

Also I have picked up that when you bet, only bet 3% of your total balance on the site. It's good for money management.

Good luck and maybe we should get a daily/weekly MLB betting thread just an idea.

Anyone have any bets on deck for today? I have Boston, Philly, and Florida in a 3 game moneyline parlay. Payout isnt great but I feel like I have a decent shot with Lester, Halladay, and Johnson on the mound against weaker opponents.

Leaning:
Oakland +101
NY Mets +170
Washington +165

Laying high chalk (even with parlays), you have to win 65%+ of the time just to break even. I pefer to play ML dogs in certain spots. You can turn a nice profit with a sub-50% win %.

Might want to check Lester's April stats for his career.

Exactly. I'd take the Over in that game before anything else.

Have you seen who he is throwing against? Come on guys. Fausto is a trashbag. Give me Lester and the Boston lineup vs Fausto and the Cleveland lineup any day.

I've seen several posts on betting with the best starting pitcher. I'm not a baseball gambling expert, but I have heard that when betting on MLB, the bullpen is extremely important. What good is betting on Tim Lincecum if he throws 7.2 great innings but his closer in on the DL and the bullpen blows the game 4-3?
