Jordan Jefferson reminds me alot of Jason Campbell. As I remember it, Campbell wasnt all that great through his junior season. Actually I recall he was a liability. Good enough to win most games, but bad enough that he couldnt keep his team in the national title hunt.

But something happened his senior year, and he went 13-0. Threw for 2700 yds, 20 TDs and only 7 Int.

Will JJ have similar success in his final year as a Tiger and hold Mett at bay. Or can we expect Mett to take the reins?

Campbell had something like 4 OCs with Borges being his OC his last two. You saw him improve under Borges from year 1 to year 2.

..with a new OC, I full expect Mett to be ahead of JJ because JJ showed his lack of mental preparedness late in the season saying "NOW he was studying harder in film".. Now? Why wait until the end of your 3rd year? Because Mett committed and now you see yourself possibly becoming #2?

That's expecting a lot out of JJ. I think Jason Campbell had the highest QB rating ever in the SEC. It was like 170, with a 70% completion rate. That is insane. If JJ can put up that QB rating, it will be a NC year.

Great question....I've held out hope for the last few years that JJ's career would finish up similar to Campbell's. I think there's a chance. Campbell was pretty bad until his senior campaign.

No.

jj is not as talented. he's just not. the kid is solid, but unless he can set and take a step forward, he's not accurate at all. (even when he does, he's only fairly accurate). this conference is too tough today. you have to be able to throw off you back foot with at least some accuracy. you have to be able to keep your eyes down feild at all times, you have to hit small windows. all 3 are something he just can not do. he's just not talented enough for this leauge.

FWIW, in Campbell's junior year, he had a 132 efficiency rating, completed 62% of his passes, threw for 10 TDs with 8 INTs.

His soph year with half the team's snaps got him a 149 rating, 63%, 11TD and 4 INTs

In other words, he always had good seasons and was never among the worst performing QBs in the nation like Jefferson. Being the worst certainly give you the most room for improvement. But it is unrealistic to expect an outlier performance from Jefferson. It is more realistic to expect subtle improvement. Unfortunately, subtle improvement from Jefferson is still underperforming below the level that a championship team requires.

got to give him credit for working hard in the off season, but I am skeptical about improvement as an over all QB
