If Trent goes to UTAH who would you like to bring in as your next bball coach?

I'm hearing that there is some strong interest for the Utah job by Trent Johnson, especially with them joining the PAC-10/12 next year.

I really think this could get interesting. Especially with Trent's lack of success over the past two years, plus he is from out west.

If he does leave, I think LSU should go after Scott Drew from Baylor (his dad used to be an assistant at LSU with Dale Brown) He is a great recruiter in Texas and seems like he would be a good fit at LSU.

I just don't see this guy leaving Baylor for LSU. We would have to throw the bank at him.

In no particular order:

Blaine Taylor - ODU. Great half court system with emphasis on rebounding

Shaka Smart - VCU. Full court press style, coached at Florida and Clemson, big time recruiter - landed Kenny Boyton (sp) to Florida.

Johnny Jones - UNT. Former LSU Player.

Butch Pierre - Ok State Asst. Former LSU Asst Coach, LA native (would probably love the challenge of rebuilding since he may feel he was passed over last time)

i'll edit once more names come to mind

I really hope we can get Jon Gruden out of the booth, and on the LSU sideline.

Tim Floyd. He is the only decent coach that would be willing to take a chance on this program.

I think more realistically would be Mark Turgeon. I'd think we'd have a small shot at stealing him from A&M.

BRUCE PEARL. I think he would look great in purple suspenders

In the SEC, if the guy is a great coach and weak recruiter, then that coach will fail. A not so hot coach who is a great recruiter will have success.

A great recruiter is not just someone who can land a potential NBA player, but someone who can actually scout out real talent.

If Utah offers Johnson close to the money he is making now, he is gone. Based on his body language on and off the court, I don't see any enthusiasm or any thing close to being excited about being here. Maybe that's his personality. Who cares. LSU BB needs someone to generate excitement, for fan support and to recruit.

I'd say current Arkansas State University Red Wolves coach, John Brady, would be an excellent choice.

If he's not available - then I agree that LSU would be incredibly lucky to get Tim Floyd - and agree with his supporters here on his "actual ability".

Trent Johnson has been a horrible basketball coach - get over it already blowhards.

I wanted Jamie Dixon when we hired Trent, and he would still be my top choice if a vacancy opens up this year.
