Tell me how much a 40 time matters for a defensive tackle.
Suh ran like a 4.98
Most Linebackers dont even run 4.6 40s
and 500lbs 25 times?? haha thats a joke right?
He did like 28 reps of 225 which is the wheight done by all players at the combine.

I don't think it matters if he starts from game one. If he solidifies himself after a few games I would be very happy with this. I am giving him a little while to get used to college football.

Davenport has shown nothing to this point
I'm not sure Davenport has fully recovered from his knee injury. He certainly has great potential but hasn't shown that potential to date.I remember watching Davenport run the 40 yd dash against D J Fluker from Alabama at a Nike camp and Davenport was favoring his injured knee and still almost beat Fluker. The knee may be what has hindered his progress to this point.Hopefully, the knee is healed and stronger and he will finally start to show that potential everyone saw when he signed. If my memory is correct, Fluker ran a 4.9 and Davenport was 5.1 that day.

Does anyone know if that 4.6 was a legit time (Not his high school coach at the track)? Because I have a lot of trouble believing that anyone 300lbs could turn in a time much below 4.8. As for the 500lbs 25 times, I think the dude ment he benched 225lbs x 25 which is equal to a 500lbs max

I don't know what his time is in the 40 but Chad Lavalais who played at LSU and in the Pro's ran a 4.5 40 on the track at Marksville.

I think someone had a quick finger on that timer considering he ran 5.06 and a 5.04 at his pro day.

I was wondering this as well.

Age and 40 more pounds will slow you down every time.Mingo and Adams run 4.5's in the 40. I wonder when they put on weight how much difference it makes in their 40 times.

Lavalais came in to LSU at like 290 as a freshman and after his first year lost like 20 lbs and played at 270 his sophmore year. He left as a Senior weighting around 290 again. So, it doesn't look like weight is really a factor.
Age doesn't make a difference from when you are 18 years old to when you are 21/22 years old. That isn't really a factor either.
On LSU's web site it says he ran a 4.8 in high school. But pro days and the combine are much more accurate then a high school time.
All i've seen on Adams is 4.76 and that was just a year ago. Mingo was at like a 4.55 in high school but has put on 25 lbs since he has been at LSU. I wonder too if it changed his speed at all.

I have very little hope for Davenport to do anything, offense or defense. I've seen him hanging around Circle K at 2 in the morning during the season, being loud and uttered some drug references pretty loud as well. I dont mean to imply anything with the drug comment, but the dude is huge and hasnt cracked the field. Too much talent ahead of him and seems like hes having a good time.
Reminds me of Ciron's senior season when he started playing blackjack til 5am, or Justin Vincent's insatiable appetite for tigerland white girls.

Extra 6 months in LSU's weight program will DEFINITELY help his chances!

Not just that, but going through Spring Practice is huge

I agree spring practice is important but OL/DL need more time to catch up physically than the the skill guys IMO bc strength is a huge part of their game so thats why I said weight program was going to help Freak see early PT.

SEC>high school. Duh he's got a lot to learn before we turn him loose against the likes of Bama,Fla,Aub,Oregon etc..
I'd love to see him redshirt we'd get an extra year before he goes NFL.
