Would this coming Tuesday or Wednesday (maybe Thurs) be better for duck hunting?

This whole weekend and up until Monday (1/14-1/17) the lows have been around 45 degrees. With rain most of the time.
On Tuesday it will drop to a low of 37 and cloudy, with no rain. Wednesday will be a low of 37, mainly sunny, and no rain. I was thinking Tuesday would be the better day because of the change in weather, and my buddy says Wednesday.
Also Thurday has a low of 30, with a 40 percent chance of rain.

This is in bossier/plain dealing fwiw.
What do you guys think?

Sunny trumps cloudy any day. Cloudy with rain can be good, but plain old cloudy generally sucks balls.

we have been killing ducks all year, but sometimes having to hunt until 1 or so to get our 4 man limit..........friday and saturday were the 2 worst days of the year........i came home, but 3 guys hunted this morning and had all their mallards by 845.

i suggest hunting tuesday and wednesday. we historically find the day before and the day after a good storm results in a spankdown.

today was no different. i, for one, will be hunting all of those days you mentioned.

we only have 14 left.

Depends on where you are hunting.

Its more about wind and sunshine than anything. People associate it being cloudy and cold with good duck hunting. But its not because its cloudy and cold its because this means there is a cold front coming through and likely a north wind which brings in ducks.

Best time to hunt is Sunny (so ducks can see the decoys clearly, and there is a reflection which makes it harder to see you) and a strong North wind.

If you see a front coming through the day of or day after there should be ducks. On the second day following a front they usually start to clear out.

Unless you are hunting a field that the ducks happen to be resting and feeding in at the time.

On a creek in the section where a pipeline runs throught it and it opens ups good bit. Saw a ton of wood ducks on it while I was hog hunting. Plan on just throwing some decoys out and see how we do.

Sounds like Wednesday might be pretty good then.

wood ducks will be there regardless.

big/flight ducks are the ones that respond to all this that people have posted.

go in the am and wipe there arse out.
They'll be there.

This is a different story.

Weather does not matter so much. Just get the early and do your pass shooting. Wood ducks are there or they are not.

If you are hunting along a creek with bluff banks, after the early shoot sometimes you can sneak along the creek bluff banks and listen. If you hear them sneak up to the edge and you can usually kill a few as they are getting up.

If the blind is in a field where you have open water and a decoy spread on both sides it doesn't matter.

If you are hunting in a pothole this is a big deal because ducks will come in against the win on their final pass which causes them to come in over your back and you are in the flight path of the ducks between them and the decoys.

Also causes a problem because when you pull up to shoot you are shooting at their arse and you don't get that wide open belly shot when they flare.

Yeah I was planning on doing some jump shooting after they stop flying. Will be two or three of us so that might make it easier. They looked liked they liked to fly with the creek when they were spooked. So if I get one while jumping them, my buddy can be waiting down stream to pick up another.

Also, I got a pop up blind, but I was planning on just being camoed out and laying in some brush.

I agree, sunny is better, but we hunt every weekend, rain or shine. You cannot kill them from the truck or camp or hotel room. I would say Thursday, but why waste Wednesday by not being there.

You shouldn't have to do a lot of work for your three woodies. If they are roosting you'll get your passing shots. Conditions aren't a big deal.
