This whole deal has nothing to do with what any poster thinks should happen or with what happens(ed) all the time at my school. It has everything to do with THE LAW, and what is and isn't legally or morally acceptable. Just because something illegal (e.g., using cocaine) occurs on a widespread basis in our society doesn't make it OK, either legally or morally.

Just not smart, if he waited just a few months he could have had LSU cleat chasers offering to do the same thing with no legal penalty.

this thread is more about discussing the fact that this is such a serious crime
i have to look it up, but i think the penalties are along the same lines as killing somebody while drunk driving, and when you kill somebody while driving drunk, you dont' have to register with a scarlet letter for the rest of your life

My old kicking coach was 23 and a college graduate. He banged a 15 year old freshman cheerleader, totally consentual, but her parents found out, informed the school and he went to jail for 60 days for statutory.
It sucked for him, he had just been asked to come try out for the Patriots for the second time. Needless to say that never happened.

I received a text message last night from a buddy... this is what he said:
"Jeremy and his friend had a bet going on who could get with her first. His friend supposebly won but Jeremy still completed the bet. They all bragged about it but when her parents and the school found out she said she did it to the friend but Jeremy forced her. So now they are both screwed."
If true this is crazy.

honestly, if the police/DAs truly thought hill forced her, he'd be charged with rape rape too
the DAs will overcharge any criminal offense if they have a minutia of evidence to link it, to force a plea

With all that is being said, it doesn't negate the fact that he was wrong. They both were. Im a teacher, and there is NOTHING appelaing about a 13 or 14 year old kid. While Hill is still a student he is an adult that committed an adult crime with a CHILD!! He should be punished as any other adult would. Would it be better if he were 25 and she were 15? Would you understand the law more then? Look beyond his athletic ability and see his flaw. Regardless of how many people have done it and what position they held (older student, teacher, coach) it is still wrong. He got caught too bad, so sad, sorry for ya. Suck it up and drive on.

Obviously there was something appealing for JH and his friend to hook up with this freshman girl, however, if Hill is an adult (mentally) and the girl is a child then why the hell are they in the same school? Would you allow your 14 yr old girl to be in school with 22 yos?
There is an easy way for school systems to prevent all this and that is sticking 9th graders in the middle school.

Come clean. You just want less competition for Terrence Magee at that running back spot.

I believe the law states that consinting adults are 17 or older. I agree with this. What we are forgetting here is that when you are in the spotlight as our young athlets are, your actions are scrutinized more than that of any other teen because you are being held to a higher standard. Is that right? Probably not, but as a society it is what we do. For example, as a country, we are more concerned and PO with Michael Vicks dog fighting than we are with Tiger Woods' adultry.
Are you a parent? How would you feel if it were your child?

No I wouldn't allow my child to be at the same school, but if that were the case, somebody (a parent) forgot to teach morals!
As for the comment about Terrence, competition is what it is. They are two very different people. And there won't be any competition when it come to Hill and Magee or Hill and Blue or any other RB on the team....Hill won't be there!

who is forgetting this?
even me, who thinks he did nothing wrong, thinks hill was an idiot for putting himself in a stupid position

they both got a ton of publicity and it would be hard to rank

i'd feel that i failed as a parent if my girl was 14 and blowing 2 guys in a locker room

Everyone that keeps saying this, but fail to realize it takes two to tango here. What if the role was reversed and the girl was 18 the boy was 14 etc. How would you feel then? I would think first and foremost that me as a parent screwed up in raising her, BIG TIME.
It is analagous to when a significant other cheats. Alot of people get mad at not the significant other, but at the lover.
