My quandry is this: If I pull for Hoke to do a good job, for the benefit of the majority of Michigan fans who are way more classy than their jerk AD, that benefits the jerk.

Although Brandon will think it benefits him, it's really benefiting the school and the players. They did everything they could the past three years, but they weren't being coached or utilized properly (Denard is the exception). They are really excited to see how they can be utilized under a new coach. If they are excited with the hire, then thats what matters. It's not the players fault our athletic director thinks hes the second coming of God.

By the way, your coach is 100% class who is a great ambassador for not only LSU, but for UofM and I will always pull for you guys, especially with him at the helm. We know, and have known what we are missing out on for the past 3 years. You all are really lucky to have him! Go Blue!

Hiring a guy who has been CEO of a big company (which tends to promote an "I am God" attitude) into a university administrative position, even an athletic department, which is more like a business organization than anything else on campus, is fraught with risk. President Coleman needs to try and rein him in, though I'm doubtful she can, even if she wants to.

Did you see the video of his press conference yesterday? I watched it and could certainly see Bo's influence.

Agreed. You convinced me. If Les won't hold a grudge against his Alma Mater over this(and you know he won't), why should I? Good Luck with the new coach.

In reality how many people did he interview or offer? We can only guess. I think that Harbaugh was dead set on going to the NFL from jumpstreet and no offer was going to change this or he would be making the jump anyway in the next few years and we would be back to square one...

With Miles, for me its hard to say, I think if DB would have really wanted him he could have paid whatever was needed to get him... IF Miles was willing to leave in the first place. If he was willing to leave, I think Les was low-balled with DB counting on his love for Michigan that he would take the low-ball offer. Miles rightly refused.

I say all of that to say this:

Look at it from the UM perspective. You dont announce a new coach saying that he was your 3rd choice. I dont think that sets up him up for success in a leadership position. Hoke is going to need all the help he gets. He doesnt need negativity right off the bat. The fans know better but it would be bad leadership (even worse than it is) for them to say he was 3rd (or whatever) choice. Thats like telling your prom date that she was your 3rd choice cause the first two gals said no. Thats not going to set you up for success. I am not defending DB, I think he is a pompous arse. But he cant come out and say Hoke was what he "settled" with.
