The AD took a shot at Rich Rod about not being able to adapt to the players on his team.

I may be looking into it too much but it seems like there were some slaps

not the only one who feels it was a swipe at RR. Been reading that same thing on some Michigan message boards. Not surprising though. Brandon is a dick, no doubt about it...

He seems like a good coach. He seems real passionate and seems like a good fit. I think we will be alright.

We will see how far we've come when we play Alabama in 2012. That will be a real measuring stick.

I know you guys are busy with figuring out if Gary Crowton is staying or going, but did any of you watch Hokes press conference on mgoblue.com?

I have to say, initially I was not sold on this hire, and the jury is still out as to whether or not he will win big here, but, there is no doubt this is where this guy wants to be. He said all the right things, kept referring to OSU as "That school in Ohio" and told off one of our local reporters who has a penchant for being a total douche. He definitely has a fiery personality and I hope that translates into his coaching abilities. Changing my initial reaction to this hire, I think we'll be okay.

I hope he works out for y'all. I enjoy any school that puts an arse whippin' on tOSU.

Well Chizik won a NC in yr 2 so there's always hope. Having a $200K+ slush fund for indiscretionary spending may help too.

To be fair, Les won over a lot of LSU fans with a brief press conference in 2007..

Gerry DiNardo did the same in 1995. I remember the press conference well.

I'm not saying Hoke = DiNardo. FAR from it. But his presser after Joe Dean hired him in '95 was what Hoke made me think of while I was listening to the PC today.

Odd... I've heard the same about Ann Arbor, except West and North.

Woody started TSUN at OSU at least.

Yeah, Mullen stole it from Woody and brought it to the Egg Bowl.

I'm pretty sure it's a myth, but either way, it's still great. SprintFun's sig quote is that supposedly said statement from Woody.

This is definitely a better sign than not. While it's not a guarantee, of course, Hoke's press conference/speech is a lot better than RR's was. I remember many people were doubting the Tressel hiring, and he gave a brilliant speech at a basketball game (paraphrasing: "you'll be proud of the players in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 3[hundred something] days in Ann Arbor, Michigan") and the place erupted. At RR's opening speech, it was apparant that at the time he didn't get it.

We're up here in NE OH and I caught his presser. He sounded impressive. Hey, it'll take some time to get back on top. Given a reasonable amount of time, Hoke may just get it done for you guys!!

I've enjoyed reading all the UM folks posts here and I wish UM the best with Hoke and its FB program. C'mon, get it going again and give ol' sweater vest a run for his money!

Good luck. Would love to see LSU–UM play; imagine the home-and-aways with Miles as the Tiger HC.

A couple of interesting posts at mgblog.

A scathing dissent on the hire from Brian.

A bit more positivity from another guy.

I think I generally agree with Brian. This hire is about being safe and mediocre. Which a lot of the fanbase would kill for because they will tell you Rich Rod was so far from even being that.

Yeah, Les has used that when referring to "the school in alabama"
Definitely a Bo-ism
