I am very torn on the situation. Les has won a large number of games while at LSU, including a national championship, but the fashion he has won some of them in is mind blowing. He is a GREAT recruiter and a all-around great guy it seems. If someone held a gun to my head and made me say which one I wanted, I'd go with wanting Les Miles to remain at LSU for a really long time.

However, if he does go to Michigan (and I wouldn't blame the man one bit for doing so), I think there are three things that need to happen in order for us to remain a top program, and perhaps even take a step up.

1- We need to hire a big name coach..and quickly
2- We need to keep 90% of this recruiting class together (hiring a big name coach would likely do this)
3- Crowton needs to be history.

I wouldn't mind bringing in an offensive minded guy and keeping Chavis and some of the other staff on board, but a lot of coaches want to come with their own staff so things would have to get mixed up.

Anywhere here is my wish list...

In this first group, I think it would be a miracle to land one of these guys but we HAVE to get the word to them and let them turn us down.

1. Nick Saban- have to express interest and make him say no. The guy is a great coach and recruiter. Kids want to play for him. I know some LSU fans would not like this.

2. Jon Gruden
3. Jack Del Rio
4. Urban Meyer
5. Chip Kelly
6. Bobby Petrino

This next group is where we'd likely snab one from, hopefully. If not...then I think losing Miles would hurt BAD!!

1. Gary Patterson
2. Chris Peterson
3. Guz Malzhan
4. Dan Mullen
5. Bo Pellini
6. Jimbo Fisher

If we fall into this category of coaches, then I think we would maybe be taking a big step back in coaching, recruiting, etc.

1. Butch Davis
2. Brad Hoke
3. Mike Gundy
4. Long list of others..

Go down this list til someone tells you yes (starting at the top)....

Saban
Gruden
Petrino
Patterson
Peterson
Fisher
Sarkisian
Spurrier
Leach
Pelini
Mullen
Dooley

If for some reason you don't get any of those, then you turn to Marrone, Tuberville, Art Briles, Skip Holtz, or Kevin Sumlin.

Realistically, I think it will be Pelini.

Gary Patterson. This makes the most sense. You can forget about little Nicky coming back.

I've talked to a low level booster and he told me that Alleva is leaning towards saving a ton of money on getting a head coach by letting the rant call all the plays via the in-game threads.

get real. please.

Urban meyer has health issues. If he was up to it, he'd still be at Florida.

John Gruden is not leaving ESPN for a college job.

Nick has no reason to switch.

Jack Del Rio is probably available, but why would you want him?
He has ZERO experience in recruiting for college ball.
Do you want someone learning the ropes while HC at LSU?
And his NFL success is minimal. He was a real good db/lb coach at Balt.
Fine.

Your second group is terrific and realistic.
