I already know the story and am convinced Miles isn't in the wrong here. It's not me you have to convince. Just relaying the info here that some M fans are not impressed.

By all means, I hope Michigan doesn't end up with Miles. He isn't perfect, but we could do MUCH, MUCH worse.

What are you referring to here? Fans? Players? Program?

Despite my mixed emotions on about Les, he is a standup guy. There really is no arguing this fact and despite being very vocal about my dislike of his "by the seat of your pants" coaching style, I will be TERRIBLY let down if he chooses to leave. He's an morally sound man that truly cares about his players and this university. My heart says he's staying, but this is truly an unbelievable opportunity for him. He has the opportunity to "go home". It's going to come down to if he wants to go back and live in the Bo shadow or make his own legacy right here. For the record, I feel like he's already made a legacy for himself here.

I really hope he stays, but will pull for him at Meechigan if he doesn't. Not that I need to, the man's a winner no matter who's pulling for him.

No he isn't perfect, and even as ugly as some of the games have been. Had Jordan played all year like in the cotton bowl Les miles and the tigers would be playing for another championship.

They just posted a link to this thread on mgoblog in hopes that some of the people will rethink their position after reading some of these things you guys posted. Hope it works!

Wasn't the author of that blog the one using that piece to knock miles just a few days ago?

I have been one to express a lack of faith with Les over the last couple of years, mainly due to his hiring and managing incompetent coordinators but if he leaves, I will definitely be sad.

There are not 4-5 coaches I would trade him for, straight up. In fact, if Crowton left, probably none following this past season.

Yeah, but you gotta remember the MSM is about all we've had to work with until some of us started posting here the last couple days.

I always hear miles over signs but take a look at the classes les has signed

2010: signed 27 recruits, had 29 verbals
- cameron fordham agreed to a greyshirt before he signed.

-zach lee had a very good chance to go pro in baseball and ended up going.

- dexter blackmon had his scholly offered pulled because he could not make the grades. was known in advance and he was told in advance.

-delino deshields- was going baseball 100%, was never even considered an option to play football.

now elliot porter was offered a greyshirt when he arrived on campus but was not told in advance. this is the only incident that somebody could hold against miles. it was nothing miles could do as one person qualified that was not expected.

2009 class- 24 signed committs did not oversign

2008 class- signed 26

- deangelo benton was the extra signee but it was known well in advance that we would not qualify and was signed to keep a good relationship with that school and with benton for 2009(benton ended up with auburn in 09)

2007 class- signed 26 and again it was benton. and was same situation as above.

- class also had delvin breaux he had a devastating neck injury and it was known he would never play football again. MILES being the man that he is honored the scholarship.

2006 class- 26 commits

-had charles deas who committed to us on signing day which was a surprise but it was known there was no way he was gonna graduate months in advance. so although he sent in his letter of intent it was essentially a dog and pony show.

-shomari clemons- was signed but again was known months in advance he wouldnt have the grades. was signed to keep relations with school and him.

2005 class- signed 13 players.

as you can see miles really never oversigns cuts players. the only play he has ever just cut for non off the field issues was chris garret. And chris was asked over and over again to do certain things as far as with his work habits and he refused. miles really had no choice in this situation. so he did not renew his scholly for the next year.

Listen I am a negatiger and miles drives me crazy but the mans morals should not be questioned. he is a great person, great recruiter and a clean recruiter.

when the violations happened, as soon as he found out what happened he pulled the coach off the recruiting trail, told him this would be his last year at LSU, and did not let the player play at all and told the player to transfer after the year. HE handled it perfectly and it was not really his fault but he is head coach so he shoulders the blame.

Les did have some trouble with some players out of his first 2 recruiting classes but once he weeded out the bad apples and got his feet under him here it has been smooth sailing ever since.

everytime I read the UM boards and I see the crap about Les's morals it pisses me off. We are one of the cleanest schools in the SEC as far as violations go. hell one of the cleanest in the country. they need to see this thread.

First post from the great white north of Meechigan. I have been watching your board for a couple of days now and am very impressed by it.
I have been a fan of LSU football ever since Les took over and will reamin so afterward. I especially enjoyed LSU beating Alabama this year ;)
That said, I do want Les up here and hope that he comes home to his alma mater. We definitely do have a job for him if he will come back. I hope this works out for the best for both universities and for Les and his family.

also forgot to add that since les has been here our graduation rate has steadily improved and is now one of the best in the conference. it is the best rate we have ever had since they started tracking that kind of thing.

also many say miles forces people out the program and that is why he signs pretty much 25 every year and that is not true. the only player he has done that with was garrett and the reasons for that I already mentioned.

the medical hardships guys have received have been legit and so have the transfers.

also miles has quit going after borderline grade guys and hardly ever signs jucos(max 2 a year).

all that oversigning shite is just that...shite!

No way Miles leaves this Cajun atmosphere that his family has to come to know as home. Miles loves this place. He would likely have a want and need for more money, only.

I honestly think he is at a crossroads right now. He loves LSU and Baton Rouge, but Michigan is his alma mater and dream job. LSU as of now has much more to offer and next years team looks STOUT. I can imagine this decision for him has not been very easy at all. I hope he stays, but if not, Michigan looks to have a great coach for years to come.
