Isn't the fine for killing a black bear in LA some huge number? Why would the fine for killing an animal THAT important be so small in comparison?

Bald Eagles are no longer on the "Endagered" or "Protected" list. They are in the "Least Concerned" category.

If you would have killed one 10 years ago, then you would be facing consequences similar to killing a black bear.
