I use a variety of sources/methods depending on what it is I'm doing. Existing GIFs, pull from YouTube, rip from DVD/Bluray, MKV pulled from usenet, still images modified/animated, etc.

Yes, for the most part. Sometimes you can use actions (macros) to make things go faster.

That one is not as simple as others...but I will pull it up later tonight and put something together for you.

Here are the basics to the Deal With It RR Stairs gif:

1 - SOURCE VIDEO

This was a GIF file already, so there was no need to pull/convert video. Just open it up, crop out the black border and delete the unwanted frames.

2 - RUEBEN RANDEL

Pull in RR transparency to a new layer that is above all video layers. Make the RR layer visible on the last video frame and size/place it. You want to start with the last video frame and work backwards because all non video layers have to be in a specific place for the freeze at the end.

Now just step backward frame by frame making the RR layer visible and size/place/rotate it as you go. Anytime there is a change in size or rotation, copy the previous RR layer and make adjustments. This needs to be done because placement location of a layer can be unique by frame, but size/rotation can't.

3 - GLASSES

Pull in glasses transparency to a new layer that is above all video layers and any RR layers. Make the glasses layer visible on the last video frame and size/place it. Now just step backward frame by frame making the glasses layer visible and place it as you go.

I wanted the glasses to be floating in a spot and RR would move into the glasses for the last freeze frame. I just chose a spot on the wall and placed the glasses to line up with that spot in each frame.

4 - DEAL WITH IT

Create a text layer above all other layers. Make it visible on the last frame and place it.

I don't see that. This is Premier Elements 10 if that helps.

I found this out last night, unfortunately. So here is the situation:

I took a gif, added text. saved it as .prel (the only option). are there converters or something to turn it into a gif?

What Vol told me to do only worked in photoshop, not for premier.

Anyone familiar with GIMP would have any idea why it would all of a sudden stop letting me edit images? When I try to do gifs, I'm having to save each frame to a folder and then open and edit them separately instead of being able to just edit it frame by frame within a single project.
