Why isn't his name along with Tommy Cassanova and Billy Cannon on a plaque in Tiger Stadium?
Only thing I can think of he isn't a doctor.

Coached a damn strong Tiger team in 1982.
That Mack Brown offense was the "Damn Strong" part of the 82 team. Brown left for Appalachain State after one season and the result was no S.E.C. wins in 83. Out come the " Help Stovall U-Haul" stickers and then adios Jerry............

that 1982 team damn near beat the nebraska cornhuskers in the orange bowl .. the next year, nebraska had what some considered the greatest college team of all time and lost to miami in that famous orange bowl that launched the mystique that is "the U" ... nebraska had turner gill, mike rozier, jeff smith, irving fryar, dean steinkuhler, dave remington, etc. .. LSU lost 21-20 ... really outplayed nebraska that night ..

He said, "I will go from being the Head Coach of LSU to being the number one fan of LSU".
This says a lot about the man.

I heard that Stovall tried to get Mack B a raise in order to keep him. Broadhead refused. They wanted him to fail?
Is that the story?

He's the ultimate class act. I'm proud the guy was once the head coach at my school.

Too close to Cannon's award. Much better that Terry Baker. He rushed, received, defended, returned, and kicked. What a great Tiger.

Class act +1000000. Much-deserved congratulations!
Hadn't seen it mentioned but Jerry was hired a HC after Bo Rein was killed in the plane crash before the '80 season. I don't recall us conducting a full-blown search afterwards. I'm pretty sure he retained most of Bo's staff.
If someone knows the whole story on this I'd enjoy hearing it.
