After reading the Mario Kart 64 thread, I started thinking about this game. Who did you use and why? What was your favorite level?

Star Fox - reflect shield ftmfw
Donkey Kong - throw, throw, and more throw w/ an occasional super punch

Star Fox level was the best in the game with Zelda level next.

eta. I expect 90% of the responses are gonna be Capt. Falcon. Dude was a bitch though.

I logged in the most time with Melee, never got a chance to try Brawl.

I used Fox mainly. The shield was the tits, I loved making people eat their own thrown objects and projectiles.

Ness sucked until Melee where he was a frickin beast (or do I have that backwards?).

Pikachu and Falcon were annoying.

I might take a lot of heat for this, but Melee >>>> SSB 64. Btw, Link FTW!

Ness sucked
Ness was easily one of the best characters in the 64 version. You just had to know how to use him right.

That little ball he shot with up + B nullified the other person's jump. Combine that with long distances and he was the best team mate when you needed to keep someone from getting back.

Also, his down + A when he was floating in the air, if you used it when someone was beneath you, they would be kicked downwards so quickly that there was no way for any character to get back.

Ness had more kill moves than any other character. You just had to know how to use them.

Also, this is about the 64 version. Melee and Brawl both blew chunks.

He is my third character. Good instant kill down + A while floating move when the enemy is trying to get back on the level.

I play Yoshi a lot. I liked to double jump up and float across the stage and use a quick downward attack on whoever was below me.

I was unbeatable with kirby. It was ridiculous when people would team up to beat me.

Don't get me wrong, I used Ness, just forgot which game. In one he sucked because his animations were too long, and in the other he was Overpowered like crazy (where I used him). That might have been 64. In Brawl they brought him in line with the rest.

That shite was the most annoying move in the history of video gaming.

Samus was a beast though.
