Is this the game where you cheated with the amount of time on the scoreboard?
No. This was a game you lost, like most of them.

My dad and I were huddled up with an AM radio listening to this game. KEUN Eunice. I was 11 at the time

I was there--as a freshman trumpet player in Tiger Band. We always felt we had something to do with the win. We started playing the fight song as soon as LSU started their drive, and we didn't stop until Davis scored the TD. The stadium was deafening and we played for the crowd for 30 minutes after the game was over--no one left (except for Ole Miss fans!)

Get this, I was at that game with my Dad. We left after much protest by me with 5 min left in the game to beat the traffic. I heard the cheer from the touchdown as I was getting into the car. I never forgave my Dad for that and I never leave games early no matter what the score.

I didn't know Al Coffee and Ledoux played at the same time. I could have sworn they both wore jersey no.1 and thought that Ledoux played after Coffee left.

wow, that sure brings back a lot of memories....I was seven years old and at the deer camp with my dad and grandpa (who are no longer living)....we stayed outside and listened on an AM radio in the pickup...damn, those were good memories....

I was there also. Excellent game. We laughed for years about one of our friends who left before the end. We called it "pulling a Whatley."
I had a similar situation at a Tulane game in the 80s. It was the game where the two teams got into a bench clearing fight. The refs called the game with several seconds left.
We missed it all because my friend wanted to beat the traffic.
The only thing I saw was a clip on the news where an LSU player had a Tulane player on the ground in a head lock and punching him in the face through his face mask. Sorta a metaphor for the way the game went for Tulane.
A similar situation happened to my brother-in-law during the 08 Bama game. He left early only to miss the blocked Bama field goal to put the game into overtime.
I stayed.

As stated earler the time clock was controled by an ole piss grad. However we only won two games in ten years. I think John stated this in the game.
Oh yea I was there and Go to Hell Ole Miss.

As bad as Hawthorne is with the names, Ferguson sounded boring.

Thanks for the link.
Next to the 2003 National Championship, this is my greatest moment/memory as an LSU fan.

No body left the student section, that's for sure. The noise when the ref's arms went up to signal touchdown was deafening.

Nope. Ferguson was a true classic, one of the great college football broadcasters, and certainly the best in LSU history, by far.

Add one more old geezer to the attendance list. The end of that game was the loudest explosion of noise I have ever experienced at a sporting event. My girlfriend and I were screaming as loud as we could and could not hear each other for the noise.
I didn't see anyone leaving early, that game was too close from start to finish. That last long drive saw Cholly Mac go for it on fourth down twice and we got them both times.
The crowd was fantastic. The entire student section went beserk. After it was all over my girlfriend and I had both been moved four rows down and about ten seats across from where we were orginally sitting.
In my mind THAT game is why Ole Miss is our greatest rival. We were down but we never gave up. Right to the last second.

I was a kid laying in a bed with an AM radio listening to the game on my top bunk of my bunk set. It was the moment I became hooked on college football. I was for LSU, my brother on the lower bed was for Ole Miss.
