1972 LSU Ole Piss -- Last 3 and a half mins

Since it's Ole Piss week, for you young pups, linked below is the entire final drive engineered by Jones. I think I read that some guy made this audio with a tape recorder mike up next to the radio, so the audio ain't great, but it's good enough. Still gives me goose bumps.

I was there also. Excellent game. We laughed for years about one of our friends who left before the end. We called it "pulling a Whatley."

Am I the only one who expected "One Second Blues" to start playing after the PAT call?
LOL.
(P.S. DO I hear the corwd chanting "Ti-gers" in the long radio silence preceding the final play call, or was that static?)

Was that John Ferguson with the call? I figure it has to be but it doesn't sound much like him.
I was there with the Boy Scouts as an usher, on the 45 yard line on the east side in the middle of a crowd of Ole Miss fans. They were screaming their heads off until 00:00.
Ohhhh I wish I could send this to my Dad.

Great post, CP.
Yes,that was Ferguson. When did Walter Hill start doing color ? No one else spoke except Ferguson.

Thanks for the Ferguson check.
I always remember Walter Hill doing sidekick duties. I'll have to listen again and crank up the volume this time.

"Entering Louisiana...set your watches back four seconds"...the sign erected on 1-55 by Ms legislature..
Nope, 3rd and 14, 4th and 2 didn't just happen in the past decade.

I have officially been educated. Must have been an incredible experience to be at that game!

Harry Hairston, the guy who got the interference call for Ole Miss AT THE TEN is the color guy for the Ole Miss network. Bet he has fond memories of Tiger Stadium.

I was in U-19 that night, with my father.
Most of the LSU fans had left by mid way though the 4th quarter, there were if not more than close to even Ole Miss fans still in the stands than LSU fans.
This is back in the day of near 12-13k Ole Miss fans in the stands.
My eye seight was really good in those days and I was ask by all near if Davis was in on the catch, the film and photos make it seem close; but it was not. Davis was clearly in the end before getting knocked out.

No we did not, the clock keeper was an Ole Miss grad.

I don't recall this at all. I remember thinking that only a handful of LSU fans had left. Funny thing about memories.

How about sending me those games.

I was up high in U-19 and you could really see a ton of empty sets, the Ole Miss sections were all still full and they were to the right and below us.
In U-19 only about 1/3 the fans were still there, and my father even told the couple next to us as they started to leave with around 8 minutes to go that the game wasn't over and now isn't a good time to leave.
The man next to us hearing my father stayed because of what my father said.
It was a very even game, the stats show that the game was close.

I was at that game as a Sophomore and it was the most exciting sporting event I've ever been at. I'll never forget that night. My date was fine, also.

"In U-19"
Wow, and those are GOOD seats now
What a difference going from 68,000 capacity to 92,000.

The bad thing was father had sits on the 45 yard line about 30 rows up form 1953-1965, he gave the sits up due to money being short in 66 and got the U-19 sits in 1967.
In 66 I sat in the press box for 2 games, loved meeting everyone up there (mainly Jim Corbett).
