I think there's a lot of merit in what you're saying, but you fail to mention that often you can't decide on a "big win" until after the season plays out. Obviously 2007 Va. Tech was a statement, but if they go on to lose 3 more games that year, is it a "big win"? We all thought 2008 Auburn was a "big win", beating a Top 10 at their place and Lee emerging as the QB. Then they went into the tank and that win didn't mean much any more.
