Went to K-Pauls last night for a group dinner after a staff meeting at the Bourbon Orleans.
Arrived at 6:30 to meet the group and was led up the stairs into a nice size dining area with 4 tables that could seat 10. We were approx 25-30. Waitress staff was there waiting on us and seated us. Three waitresses were assigned to our room. They were really good. All obviously experiences servers. They quickly took our drink orders and promtly brought the drinks. My wifes beer was a little warm so we mentioned it to the waitress and she instantly got a cold one for her.
The appetizers started showing up about 10 minutes after we were seated. They would bring around platters of different items every 5 minutes or so. The apps were a mixed bag. Some very good and some I didn't care for at all. They first brought out some kind of wrapped meat and cheese with ginger cut into pinwheels. I didn't care for those. Next was fresh cut tuna with a sauce on fresh chips. Excellent. Then some fried oysters came out. Some of the best I have ever put in my mouth. Just delicious. Couple of others I just don't remember.
Next we ordered individual apps. I ordered the fried green tomatoes. It was two medaillion type fried slices. I thought they were good but htey were topeed with a sauce that I just didn't care for. I would have preferred them just plain. Wife got a salad. I was mixed type lettuce and spinach leaves. The blue cheese dressing was very good.
The entre's we got were the blackened drum for me and she got the tenderloin tips. Both were very good. Here meat was cooked to perfection (med rare). I had asked the chef about the blackened fish if it was very spicy hot when he came in to meet everyone. He said it was and would go light on mine but use some other seasonings that were not too hot if I wished. I said fine. Sure enough when it came out it was obviously different from the others plates that had ordered the same. It was delicious too. He came out to ask me how it was. I was impressed the chef actually gave a damn to come check on a diner after a request to change his dish. Nice.
Service was top notch. Food was great. I give it a high rating.

K-Paul's is my favorite FQ restaurant. Unlike most of the restaurants in the FQ that cater to tourists' taste, K-Paul's is definitely real LA cooking. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans
