Please keep comments RE: Gary Crowton to a minimum. Would people prefer to promote from within or recruit a guy who looks like a hot property?

Essentially do people think Billy Gonzalez will get the job done with QBs especially? Or should LSU recruit someone like David Yost from MU?

David Yost - current OC at Missouri, developed Chase Daniel and Brad Smith, has his new QB Gabbert playing at a high level. Yost is also MU's recruiting coordinator

Steve Logan is still the guy I want to see.

What makes you so sure Crowton is gone...I think some of you are highly underestimating Les Miles' stubbornness.

As long as Miles is the head coach, it really doesn't make a rats arse as to who the OC is.

Steve Logan would be a great hire, IMO.

I guess I should have clarified I didn't want to talk about Miles on the thread either... just OC

Steve Logan is my first choice, and the word last year was that he was very interested.

A dark horse pick could be Frank Wilson. The fanbase would be very pessimistic about this hire I think, but he would run a pro-style offense and his promotion would create an opening for a full time QB coach. Another poster started this rumor and I'm running with it.

NO WAY MILES HIRES A GUY WHO HE CAN'T DICTATE THE GAME PLAN TO OR WHO DOESN'T HAVE A BIG 10 PHILOSOPHY. IN OTHER WORDS, MILES IS THE OC.

which is what exactly?

anyway, Logan has coached with Les before so there should be some familiarity (though that could go either way). he was brought to Tampa by Jagz, but now that he's gone, I could see Logan leaving. I'd think LSU OC would be a better gig than the Bucs' RB coach. crazy fans notwithstanding.

GC may be fired, but don't expect a big hire to replace him, in my opinion. Head coaching position is on rocky grounds. It would be difficult to obtain a great prospect knowing he could be replaced by a potential new head coach in the near future. Furthermore, if the powers that be feel that Miles' days are numbered, don't expect the administration to offer a hefty or long term contract to a great coach. If they are looking for an exceptional head coaching hire in the future, they may want to keep their options open in case a great head coach demands to take his OC with him. A lot of things to consider - of course this is my uneducated thoughts on the subject.

No way in hell Wilson gets promoted to OC. He is too young in CFB to be getting promoted that quick at a program like LSU. Especially with his experience.
