When great offense meets great D the best special teams will win out. If you are shanking punts left and right your great D will get torn up.

And the best Defense Auburn has played.....how'd that work out?

I was at that game, AU pretty much shut it down and played conservative the entire second half maybe because it was the second start for a Qb on the Road?? You seriously think You will the see the same offense in the second half?

Auburns offense is centered around one player. I like LSU's chances. A lot. AU defense is bad.

It's easier to inspire a defense to play better then they are compared to getting an offense to play better then they actually are. I don't know if that makes sense to you but I had a good long convo about this once with a big time football mind a while ago.

Riiiiight. AU shut it down when it was 35-37 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Not to mention Arky took the lead 43-37 at the beginning of the 4th. Playing Les Miles ball are we.

Has this dominating Defense even played a top 25 offense? Just curious...

Has this dominant offense played a top 25 defense?

Statistically, but when a defense holds a top offense to minimal production their ranking drops significantly. Maybe you should check teams offensive numbers BEFORE they played LSU.

I don't know what Miss St was before you played them, but they're 35th defense now and they held you to 17 points. If the 35th ranked defense does that, what do you think the 3rd ranked defense does?

Opposing offense PPG::
LSU
MS St: 57
UWV: 61
Florida:66
UNC: 73
Tennessee:84
Vandy: 98

Opposing defense PPG::
Auburn
MS St: 14
Clemson: 30
South Carolina: 39
Arkansas: 56
Kentucky: 89
ULM: 92
Arkansas St: 102

edit: that's overall ranking, not their actual points

i think its funny cause auburns is like in the fifty's and ours is top in the sec by a large margin and 3rd in the nation after playing 6 bcs schools.

AU is 63 actually.

and ours is actually skewed pretty bad. For instance, our defense has been on the field for 427 plays, while the second D in the nation has only been on the field for 383 plays.

JJ is AWESOME

No different than baseball IMO.

Great pitching beats great hitting 99% of the time.

If our D is as good as we think it is...I like our chances.

Miss State is the best defense they played. 13th in scoring defense, 30th against the run, 66th against the pass, 35th overall. They scored 17 points.

But don't get too excited. Arkansas is arguably the next best defense they played, ranking a respectable 32nd in total defense. They hung 65 on them.

So LSU needed a Miracle to beat the 84th ranked offense/75th ranked defense and they are going to dominate the 6th ranked offense/63rd ranked Defense....

You sound like the media. Always on our case. We're really good damnit. That was just a weird game.

However, Miss State did shut you down and you needed to come-from-behind to beat Kentucky and Clemson who aren't exactly world beaters so your dick isn't as big as you think it is either.

Turnovers, special teams, bad officiating, and Arky quit late explains that "65"

OK. 65 points is a lot! BTW, we are 112th in giving away the football and 83rd in penalties.

43rd in rushing defense prior to that game.

So, that outcome was not unexpected.

Defense shuts down Offense look at that super bowl with the raiders and the bucs raiders had #1 offense and bucs had #1 defense look how that game turned out.
