A playoff system will kill the regular season... and the loss of revenue there will more than offset any monetary loss suffered by a shitty championship game.

a playoff wouldnt kill the regular season, make homefield advantage an incentive. Can you imagine 06 LSU with home field advantage

If we lose a game (which will eliminate us this year where we don't benefit from voter respect), I am rooting for Boise State v. TCU for all the marbles.

I won't watch it.

Every other sport uses a playoff. Hell, every other division and subdivision uses a playoff.

someone should tell that to the most successful sporting league in the country, the NFL.

The idea that regular season college football is so awesome is a farce in its own right. Most years LSU might play 5 or 6 meaningful games. Half the games are cupcakes againt some directional school or a cellar team from the SEC. And we play in the best conference in the nation!

If there was an 8 team payoff you still couldnt lose more than 1 game most years. And we've already seen a 2 loss national champion anyway.

Getting to see 2 or 3 good games a year in tiger stadium is fun and all, but i think hosting a texas, USC, Ohio St, Miami, Oregon in a quarterfinal/semifinal matchup would be epic.

To say nothing of the money the schools miss out on by exporting their most desired product(post season football).

Wrong. The 8 playoff teams would be chosen from the top 8 BCS rankings. Thus, every game counts to try to get into one of those 8 spots. In fact, the regular season would count even more because spots 3-8 would be relevant, which they aren't now.

this is the most lame and regurgitated nonsense on the subject. Yes, you have a component of win-every-week in the regular season, but the right playoff formula retains the far majority. The main reason this is lame is because it ignores the lack of cross-correlation of teams/conferences necessary for the regular season to be a "playoff".

A playoff can and should occur, and it will once all the ignorant excuses wither away....but too far from now than what should be

bullshite. Again I say bullshite. How in the world would it diminish the regular season? Have you been listening to too much talk radio?

Arkansas currently has two losses and is completely out of the National Championship race. Currently are their games anymore or less exciting because of that? Are their fans not going to attend, cheer, and support them the rest of the season? Hell no.

BUT, if there was a playoff they would have even more to play for right now, thereby making the rest of their regular season games MORE exciting.

A playoff can only make the regular season more exciting. The undefeated teams are positioning for home field advantage (or what ever incentive they might receive) and the 1-2 loss teams are fighting each other for the remaining playoff spots.

If an undefeated LSU plays an undefeated USCe in the SEC championship and there is a playoff system, do you actually think that game will be less exciting? Both teams want to remain undefeated, win the SEC, and get the incentive for being undefeated.
