I think Miles said they would petition for a medical redshirt. If it is not granted he said he might be able to go in postseason play.

at first 6 weeks......he broke his ankle, so I knew it was much longer.
with it being the first play of the first game, they could petition. HOWEVER, I believe he used his redshirt year, so moot point.

I just posted this in the Slammin' Sammy thread and it also aplies here. He can't get a mediical redshirt:

Also, this is generally only issued if they have missed 2+ years due to injury (ie. Pittman) so Sam would not be a good candidate unless he were to miss another year due to injury or something
