"I watch Les Miles on the binoculars. Les Miles lets Gary Crowton do his thing, Crowton calls the plays"

Can we please put this LM overrides GC crap to bed now?

"The play calling Saturday wasn't bad but GC needs to realize JL can't thrown certain Matt Flynn type passes"

"If LM wins enough this year to stay, I don't think GC comes back"

it really isn't about the play calling. yes, some improvement can be made there, but it's about our OC being a coordinator, and kicking asst coaches arse and certain players arse whtn they make elementary screw ups. i think crowton just sits around drawing up plays and unfortuneatly coaches the qb's. crowton is an egghead, not a leader.

I pretty much think this was clarified during the post game conference when Miles stated he thought the game was over and took off his headset. When the refs said one more play Miles said he was unable to talk to GC so he (Miles) called the final play (which was the correct call). IMHO GC would have called some 5 yard pitch back sweep crap.

I'd like to know what pass he is talking about

I don't think there are many throws that Flynn can make that JL can't

The issue was never if Miles is overriding Crowton or if Crowton is calling his own plays.

The issue is that if Jordy Hultberg were playing MIles in a game of checkers, I would, and most people on this board would, bet on Hultberg. And we'd all be richer after the game.

Coaches matter in college football. And ours has less gray matter than most others.

Comparisons between coaches are not usually this black and white. But Miles makes them so every time the game is close or someone sticks a microphone in front of his mouth.

And we were ranked where offensively after last season?

Alleva wouldn't let Les fire him after last season, so Les just lets GC continually frick up the offense without any interference? I call bullshite.

I've already fought that battle. Gordy said the same exact thing point blank on the air. I argued it and had 5+ posters say that I was wrong.

Les doesn't call the fricking plays. I cannot believe this still pops up as a question.

Edit: Les has a say in the plays that are on the sheet and who is the featured player...this is done prior to the game.

Glen Guilbeau on Nick Saban:
I watch Nick on the sidelines with my up close binoculars and really like his haircut - I wonder who is barber is? I wish I could dress like him too.

If you think the play calling is so great tell me what fool would throw a fade to a 5'9 tailback when you have two 6'2 are taller receivers

its a combination of everything....play calling...personnel...everything...we have no identity...

our identity like another poster said should mirror Bamas...

Lee in at QB, Play action...draws. screens...hitting deep passes....shep in the wildcat with the occasional throw....basically putting the ball in our play makers hands as often as possible...

it doesnt take a genius to figure this shite out...

I think Crowton is used to working with cerebral QB's. (I know this knocks Jordan but he hasn't proved he makes good decisions yet) I think Crowton is lost having to call a game for a QB who has perceived decision challenges. He was too damn effective with Flynn and other QB's to be dismissed as an idiot. I think he can't figure out how to use a QB like Jordan.
