He's in no more danger of being hurt taking direct snaps than returning kicks!

It seems PP's mentality is Heisman or bust.
This is probably something that PP or the team brought to the coaches and not the other way around.
Playing offense gives him one more step toward Heisman contention.

people act like he's going to get 20 carries or something 
give him the ball in the redzone on first and second down a couple times, especially at the goaline.

good point...I don't see JJ progressing anytime soon and our schedule is about to get rough
