re: Letter from AD Joe Alleva about booing the team...

the seats emptied early bc the saints are defending super bowl champs and were playing arch rivals and a very good atlanta falcon team. the lsu game was late, and the saints played at noon, people were leaving early regardless of score and outcome,....now that the saints are super bowl champs, it changes the dynamic. Alot of those people also had tickets to the saints and had kids with them. This must be considered

Also, for people who claim booing accomplishes nothing, I'm pretty sure the existence of this letter alone disproves that
So when we balance the possible harm that this may do to recruiting and the result of having the AD write a letter to the general public, you'll take the letter to the general public as a success?

I've lost enough brain cells on this and more than enough faith in the decency of some "fans" on here, so I'll sum up by saying:
1. Booing your town TEAM (however you want to conveniently define that) doesn't accomplish anything positive. It makes you look like a jackass and the rest of Tiger fans look about the same. If the AD has to write a public letter, we have a problem. And I strongly suspect that if it were your kid/husband/father out on the field and you heard boos, you'd be a lot less "philosophical" about it.
2. The only action you CAN take that has value if you're so disgusted with the direction of the program is to CASH OUT. You should weigh your disgust with Miles & the players to see if its more valuable to you than what you pay in tickets and fees. If it is, then man up and sell out. I guarantee you there will be someone to scoop up your tickets and that unless you're Charles Weems or Jim Bernhard or some other big shot, you won't be missed. By the way, read your ticket: you're paying for a LICENSE. That means you don't own squat and they can do whatever they want.
3. Get some perspective on this team & this season so far. No one with half a brain is happy about the passing game and no one is saying Jefferson or Miles or Crowton is perfect. If you believe, however, that Jarrett Lee has mystically transformed into Drew Brees overnight and that Les Miles knows this but is too stupid/stubborn/self-hating to play him despite knowing that he "might" lose some future games, then more power to you. But some of us think that some of the "cures" for whatever perceived tragedy there is so far in a 4-0 season might end up killing the patient in the end.

What should they do? Alleva should fire a 4-0 coach that has the program in the top ten, has two SEC titles and a NC, and has recruited better than most everyone in the country?
And do all of this by paying him a huge buyout when LSU is in financial ruin with higher education budget cuts?
Yeah dude, you're full of great ideas.
And then with the right hire, in 5 years everyone will praise this action.

Miles is a moron, so is Joe Alleva.
They brought more attention to this booing by making these statements,...if Les hadn't mentioned it or addressed it, it wouldn't have gained traction,.....ESPN is going to cover it because they hate LSU, but love the ratings they get when we play bottom line.

We booed in 2008 and that didn't seem to hurt our recruiting. Stop worrying about recruiting. Winning and coaching will always bring recruits. We are barely hanging onto one of those two.

Because our money tree sitting outside Alleva's office is sprouting and it's just another drop in the bucket to go out and find another established, successful coach out that there that wants to come to a program with a toddler fanbase.

To compare 2008 to the current situation is a stretch.

Let's hope that he knows WHY the fans that are booing, are booing. It's not directed at the players, it's directed at the coaches and hopefully he's addressed that with them. I don't boo but I can understand why people want to boo. Miles has said before that he doesn't listen to the media. Perhaps fans felt they needed to boo him to get "in his ear." Regardless, it reflected poorly because the fans can't directly boo one person.
What I can't understand is why, after JJ playing so very poorly for multiple games, you wouldn't even put your backup in there to get some game experience for our tougher games which are coming up. By sitting Lee, he's putting him in an even worse position should he really need to go in. Setting him up for failure by not giving him meaningful reps. Very hard to comprehend that mind set.

The point is that the notion that our program is trending in the wrong direction hasn't changed our ability to bring in top five talent. You think Ole Miss and MSU are in prime recruiting grounds? Yeah, place another SEC team in Louisiana and then call our situation "prime". Not to mention the fact that LSU is closer to the Gulf Coast then any of those teams and you're not primed for anything on the recruiting front.
My very first post about this said being bad affects recruiting not the fans. We have yet to be bad so our recruiting has not suffered. Why do you keep putting words in my mouth? Just comprehend.
And if you don't think Ole miss and State are in good recruiting grounds your are dumb. Mississippi produces the 2nd most NFL talent per capita, it is next to the LA which is #1. AL and GA are always fertile and have a few players to be picked just like LA. The city of Memphis might as well be in the state of Mississippi. Orgeron even showed there was talent left from the big boys to get up there but you have to produce.

would also like to add that, again, even though I don't boo, the people that scorch the booing have to admit at least one thing.
It, for better or worse, has caused an action from the top.

I'm going to go with YOU might need to get some perspective.
While it would be nice if the booers would cash out, you know that's not going to happen. And, frankly, if the numbers game is with the booers, then oh well. while it doesn't accomplish anything positive, it certainly accomplishes something. this letter is proof of that.
I'm afraid what's going to happen is a very dark time in LSU football history. Another "mark my words" statement. It's going to get ugly.

Booing your own team and coaches is stupid, there is simply no justification for it.
Posted on 10/1/10 at 3:14 pm to geauxaddai
I believe the boos were directed more at play calling than individual players or coaches. Why is everyone so sensitive? Grow a set and quit being a little whiny b*tch.
Posted on 10/1/10 at 3:14 pm to DollaChoppa
What hurts recruiting more?
A.) An offense that cannot move the ball, waste 5 star talent, and shows no signs of improving or wanting to improve.
B.) A fanbase that boos a shitty offense rather that be players or coaches.

It is pretty much the exact same situation. Except now it is 100% about the offense.
