I don't even consider a birthday a cheat.

When I started this diet back in March of 2010, I told myself that I could still eat all I wanted on holidays, birthdays and a few times now and then with friends.

I've probably averaged a night out or two every month since I started. Some of the time I behave if the menu has something that looks tasty and healthy and many times I have not.

I've had taco bell several times over the last year on true cheats when I just cracked. So even with true cheats and planned cheats I've still dropped 126 over the course of the last year.

You just need to make sure after each cheat you get back in the saddle and make sure you don't pack to many cheats close together.

I'm seriously considering going get an angus burger from McD's and ask for it plain with no seasoning on the meat. According to that atkins board I found, that contains no carbs.. and I don't know why but I have a serious craving for fast food right now

I just rediscovered Frank's Red Hot Wing Sauce. It has 0 calories and 0 carbs which makes it good for all of us! The only drawback is It does have ALOT of sodium (460mg per tbsp ) but I use it occasionally on a grilled chicken breast or some sliced turkey for a little something different than mayo/mustard, etc.

Cheers to all and good luck!

tip: buy a big frozen bag of raw chicken wings from the refrigerated section.

then cook them in the oven in a pan lined with foil..throw a little tonys or tobasco on them while they cook... asbosolutly delish..put a dollop of sour cream on the side and dip them in it...H E A V E N

i mean you talk about good. and you can eat like 40 of them without trouble

i love the boneless/skinless chicken thighs on the grill. a little garlic and salt and those things just rock my world. i have no problem eating the skin on the thighs if it came on them..but you can get like 8-10 of these 'fileted' thighs for like $5. Great deal and you can get at least 2 meals out of it.

as for steak on a budget..try the 'scratch and dent' meat..usually u have to get there about 10am before all the coupon-obsessed housewives pick it clean but there's always some INSANE deals on day-old meat..and i plan on cooking it that day so i buy cheap meat here all the time.

also try the 'chuck eye' steaks. these can be found next to the ribeyes for like $4/lb and they are GOOD. the only problem is they only get a few of these off each cow so you gotta hit the store when they have some in stock..usually they're gone by late in the day (at least around here).

for fish, the shrimp wheels are MONEY. buy one, melt some butter in the microwave. good to go. brain food ftw!

big lots has planters 'pecans/macademias/almonds' in cans for like $2 here. hulk, pick yourself up SEVWERAL of those after induction. they are a lifesaver..cheap and very very filling. plus those nuts are dang healthy for your heart anyway.

pork rinds..i love them! the salt & vinegar are teh best..but hard to find unless i'm travelling through mississippi.

kroger brand 'low carb' yogurt rocks the house. get some of thse. 2-3 carbs each and they are DELICIOUS! CARROT CAKE!!!, chai flavor, pomegrannie, vanilla, strawberry, peach, banana, etc etc. tons of different flavors and great for digestion. tastes just like danimal.

I do like me some yogurt.. I think there's a Kroger somewhere around here. I'm pretty excited to move to OWL so I can have some nuts and dairy and stuff. I really miss having milk, almonds, and fruits (I wish I could have apples and oranges.. but berries will do fine).

I hope this damn bike helps lower my blood pressure so I can dial down the salt restrictions.

Not drinking is hard enough....

Not drinking and dieting is crazy....

Not drinking, dieting, salt restricting and no coffee is sheer lunacy.

You should probably just give up sex while you're at it.

I just got back from New Orleans for 4 days. I ate at various places. Meat and salad. No booze, no dessert, no carbs. Came back still in ketosis. Yay me!

Thanks. Will weigh tomorrow morning. The only problems I had was getting the necessary water down and the salt in the food there. I may have stayed the same weight, but after a day of water flushing, I am sure all will be well.

And I will NEVER, EVER, give up my coffee.

I let my roommate watch Fat Head. He's a skinny fart, currently working out to put on muscle and gain weight..

He's been ingesting anywhere from 500-600 grams of carbs PER DAY, with eating all the bread and with his protein supplements and crap. The biggest source of his carbs is his protein supplement. He's now seriously considering lowering his carb intake to ~200 and eating a ton more meat. With him working out so much he obviously needs more carbs than most people would. I told him my average protein intake is ~100-120g per day, his jaw dropped. He didn't believe I could get that much protein without even taking a supplement and eating as little as I actually do. I told him if he eats twice the amount of meat I do, eats a lot more veggies and cuts out carbs, he won't need that protein supplement and can easily cut out carbs from his diet. He's a carboholic though, he LOVES bread and spaghetti and cereal and all that

But I am happy I opened up at least one person's eyes to the possible detrimental effects of too much carbs. I'm hoping I can open up my family's eyes to this too. I don't plan on making anyone change their diets but if they can at least know that what I'm doing is not unhealthy, in fact is much more healthy than what they think is healthy, then I will have accomplished my goal!
