MOTHER F*CKER HARTLEY....

All things being equal, we lost the game because Hartley missed a 29 yard field goal. That is so goddamn frustrating. We lost to our only real rival in the division at home. Could turn out to be a huge loss.

I know this is Germans, but had to vent.

All things being equal if Brees doesn't throw the underhanded stupid INT, Hartley has a chance to kick a field goal that would have won the game in regulation with no real pressure.

All things being equal, the offensive line might have actually opened a hole for the running backs. Second week in a row that most of our runs were destroyed at the line of scrimmage.

All things being equal, if the defense could get some pressure on Ryan and not allow him the have 10 minute drives, then maybe Brees has more opportunity to score more points.

All things being equal, if Payton had any confidence in his running backs he would have run the ball on 1st and 2nd down or had Brees toss a quick slant to Shockey.

All things being equal there were many people to blame for the loss but everyone wants to blame the last guy. Should he have made the kick and does he deserve the lions share of the blame? Yes

But all things being equal, there were plenty of people that sucked it up in that game.

Oh and all things aren't equal.

All things being equal, if Henderson doesn't drop a touchdown, we wouldn't be talking about this.

Agree 100%

Plenty of blame to go around but with a chance to win the game, you must make that kick.

Actually, if Hartley makes the kick, nothing that happened previously in the game changes and the Saints win. It's clear and incontrovertible.

If anything you mentioned happened, the game as a whole could have changed, so you have no clue whether or not it would have been the difference.

If Hartley makes the 29 yrd field goal, Saints win. If the defense got pressure on Ryan all game, maybe Atlanta adjusts and similar things happen to lead to Hartley lining up for a 29 yard field goal.

The whole game is not Hartley's fault. But he had the only play in the game that if you changed the outcome you know for certain the Saints would win.

So let me repeat. MOTHER F*CKER HARTLEY.

Hartley's probably not in that situation.

Only small minded people resort to your faulty reasoning.

Please tell me how my reasoning is faulty. Read my whole post. I agree that if things in the game change, Hartley's likely not in that situation, but you have no clue. There is only one thing we're sure about in the game: Hartley was in that situation. If he is successful in that situation, Saints win. He was unsuccessful and the Saints eventually lost. It is not entirely his fault, but if he makes the kick, which he is paid to do, the Saints win.

If they Saints don't give up 202 yards rushing, they don't lose the game. FACT

There is so much more stuff that happens in the course of a game that placing it on one person is foolish. THAT is why your reasoning is faulty.

Hell, Hartley made a more difficult kick to get to OT.

NOT fact. Likely true, but not fact.

Hartley does not deserve all the blame. But he needs to be a better kicker for the Saints to succeed this year. If he was better on his last kick on Sunday, the Saints win. That is a FACT.

He's making 57% of his kicks. That's pretty bad, regardless of our W/L record.

On the bright side - only Chicago has a better record than us in the NFC. Green Bay, Seattle, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Philly are all 2-1. We're still in it.

I think there's only 3 unbeaten teams - Pitt, KC, Chicago. Sure would have been nice to be one of only 4 though....

And if Payton doesn't call a freeze time out on Bryant's 1st FG, we get the ball back and Hartley has a second chance in OT.

Maybe it's just me, but Brees' accuracy is not there right now. These first 3 games he has looked off....overthrowing, throwing behind, at the ground, etc..... wonder what's going on there. Anyone else think this?
