Why did they not let him kick the field goal instead of punting for the only time of the night. I was at the game, so I don't remember how long of a field goal it would have been, but what I do know is he made a 51 yarder with about 10 yards to spare or so, anyone have any insight to the decision and lot letting Jasper take a shot?

Didn't really need 3 more points there, and we were able to pin them at the 2. It would have been close to a 55 yard kick, no need to take a chance on that. Play the percentages.

It was at worst 29-7 at that point, teams have been blown out way worse than that before, and with our defense I really have no problem with them taking that chance. I just think if Jasper has a chance for any post-season award a 60 yarder (which I think he could make) would look pretty good on his resume.

It would have been about a 54-55 yard FG. We were up 29-7. Leslie is paid to win games, not get his kickers records or awards. Can you imagine the backlash if that kick gets blocked and run back for a TD, somewhat allowing State to get back into the game?? Punting was 100% the correct thing to do there.

Only a ranter would bitch about an absolutely beautiful punt.

It was the right call, and executed perfectly.

The problem is that 3 more points would have helped us win the game. I'm not disappointed with the call, it was a great punt. I am just wondering why we didn't try a kick a very makable kick for jasper.

3 more points would have helped us win the game? That might be the most brilliant thing I've heard today,

As others have said, the right thing to do was punt, and I find it even harder to argue against this considering it was executed perfectly.

Had the FG been attempted and missed or worse blocked and returned for a score, you'd be on here asking WTF didn't they punt.

30+ on the scoreboard does way more good than in the grand scheme of things.

All those voting fools at Harris and Coaches are much more impressed with 32-7 than 29-7.

It's a minor issue, but it does mean something somewhere.

So what would they think about 29-14?

It would have been a 59 yard attempt. Makable? Sure, but much less than 50%. Even if you're losing, you punt there with over 7 minutes to play. Being up 3 scores, though, who in their right mind would even consider for a millisecond to attempt that field goal? I would try to convert that 4th and 10 before attempting such a silly field goal.

Right, a fake punt in that situation is a better option than the FG attempt. Even with no gain on the play you leave them with 7 more yards to go than a missed FG.

If the object were to score over 30 points, attempting a 59 yard field goal with over 7 minutes left isn't the way to do it. Had Blue not fumbled on the following possession, we would have scored over 30. Unless, of course, the opportunity to run the clock out presented itself, then Miles probably would have done that.

Why didn't we kick a 54 yard field goal up 29-7 with about 7:30 left in the game?

Are you serious?

I must have missed something. Does a team get anything for scoring over 30 points? I mean if you score 31 points this week and you need 1 more point next week, can you borrow that point?

Someone called into the postgame show and asked this question last night. People are dumb.

And it would have been a 54 yarder, people. We took the delay of game for the punt to give us 5 more yards of room. Let's get it together. These are mistakes we can't afford to make here.

My apologies... It would have been a 54 yard attempt. I forgot LSU took a delay of game before the punt. My argument stands though.

And in the eyes of all of us (except for one person), it is a hell of a good argument.
