Sorry if Germans, but the Lions just got Screwed. That was definitely a TD. Probably the only chance at a Win the lions will get all season.

They threw a TD pass with seconds left, Calvin Johnson dropped the ball when he was getting up and they ruled it incomplete. complete horse shite

i still don't know wtf it was.. i changed my mind with each replay. you can't say he was celebrating by putting the ball on the ground BUT if you're crossing the goal line and drop it it's a TD...

How is that the rule? He was getting up after clearly possessing the ball

Hardly (if Stafford is healthy), they're an improved team

it just is.

the ref called it on spot, and the referee rep they interviewed on Fox while they reviewed it called it on the spot

you have to continue possessing the ball until you hit the ground.

I'll take your word for it.

I thought it was two feet with down with clear possesion of the ball which he had. Looked to me like he just should've been given the TD.

First off, you don't know the rules. Second, not being able to stop Forte is why they lost.

It was the correct call on a rule that I think was written about 20 years ago after a controversial MNF game at the Superdome when the 49ers were given two undeserved TDs. One was when (I think) John Taylor was running toward the end zone and started to bobble the ball at the two, but instead of a touchback for the Saints (the ball went out the end zone), SF was given the TD.

The other TD was why this HORRIBLE rule was written. I can't remember the receiver who "caught" the "TD," but Montana threw to him in the end zone. He jumped, caught it in the air, was hit, and the ball was batted away before he got any feet down. The officials ruled that he had possession of the ball in the end zone. I can't describe it much better than that, but I remember thinking, "He caught it, but the Saints knocked it away before you should consider it a reception."

The next season, a rule was written saying you have to come down and maintain possession after hitting the ground for it to be considered a catch.

My take on this is that he caught the ball and two feet came down. That's a touchdown no matter what happens afterward. This take doesn't comply with a complete comprehension of the rules, however; I think the rule should be changed so that an obvious catch in the end zone is a touchdown--even if the rule allows for a subjective decision.

I get the rule. I think it's bullshite that they haven't changed it at all, at least in the last couple years. Remember OAK week 1 last year? Got fricked as well on the rule.

This is a case of the WR clearly having 100% control of the ball. 2 feet down, arse down, one hand down, THEN the ball comes out after it hits the ground.

No one sees that and goes "nope, no catch". The only defense is "well, the rule..."

He had the ball in possession as his feet hit the ground, all the way through to his KNEE hitting the ground.

If he had made that reception in the field of play, it would've been a completion and the release of the ball would not have been called a fumble.

Of course it was, it was a terrible call...only a complete fool believes otherwise. He caught the ball, two feet down, knee down, arse down, held complete control throughout...when he rolls over the ball comes out.

If the 'rule' says that is not a catch, the 'rule' needs to be changed.

I heard the commentators talking about it earlier but just saw the play. Awful call. He came down with the ball then got up to celebrate as fast as he could. Left the ball on the ground. Horrible call.

While it may be a "rule", that is just fricking retarded.

That should have been a no-call.

Instant replay is ruining the game. It is too fricking nit-picky.
