Ill give the offense 3 turnovers if they are able to get close to 400 yards of offense a game

I saw improvement from last year; no more looking at the sidelines after lining up, JJ did not get sacked, we ran the ball pretty good (minus the fumbles), and we went deep! I'm not sure what your talking about

nobody said it was great, but you sure can extrapolate 4 turnovers into 2-3 scores, imo.

they would have had 400 yards without penalties and turnovers

Our offense was not great. It was better than last year without a doubt, and that is in the first game of the season.

If someone is too dense to understand that those TO's hurt, well, guess that is why they are here and not coaching.

Turnovers hurt, no doubt.

Was Jarret Lee's offense good? Yeah, they moved the ball, but turned it over way too much.

Newsflash! Our offense was doing just fine except for the turn overs.

Running the ball: Check. Ridley had 87 yards WITHOUT the run he had for the TD that would have put him over 100 for the night. Shep had 67 yards rushing. All of this on short fields. Our average field opsition was UNC's 49.

Getting the playmakers involved: Check. Shep had about the amount of touches he should have as the Percy HArvin in our offense. Reuban was very involved in the offense.

Big play ability: Check. Two 50+ yard plays

Good Pass protection: Check. One sack...which was on JJ.

Seriously...save the turnovers and penalties we score at least in the 40s. The lack of yards is a stupid argument because when you take the short fields we got from our returns you will never have a ton of yards. Add in turnovers with short fields...forget it.

What about the consistency? Keeping the LSU defense off the field? There was improvement, but the offense was not great.

No, they didn't move the ball. Our scores were all big plays with the exception of one drive that started on the NC 30. We had 1 decent drive all game.

Nobody is saying turnovers don't hurt you, but to act like that was the only problem is ridiculous. Les acted like the offense would have produced great if it weren't for those 6 drives. But, 4 of the drives where we didn't have penalties or turnovers were 3 and outs.

Guess what, you're going to have penalties every game unless you're Alabama. And, most games you're going to have a turnover or 2. That does not excuse the fact that our offense, with the exception of a few bigtime plays by our bigtime players, could not move the damn ball against a depleted NC defense.

Our offense is big plays and nothing else. And it's going to be hard to compete for an SEC championship like that, especially considering our offensive staff doesn't want to feature our play makers.

ETA: And this performance was against 2nd and 3rd string NC defenders. AND, our offense enjoyed tremendous field position all night long.

Raz is right on. Also, Herbstreit hit the nail on the head during the broadcast. Basically, he jefferson panics when his primary receiver is taken out of the play. We're screwed if we fall behind more than one score.

After settling down and looking back on the game...

I saw BIG improvement over last years offense..
IMO JJ didn't look that good which worries me a little because the offensive line gave him plenty of time (for the most part)
I feel good about the running game. The more I think about it, the more I think Ridley looked great. He has excellent speed and vision and was VERY quick on cuts.
Wide receivers looked FAST and reliable.
May be the alcohol memory but I can't think of a drop between the two?
Les/Gary confuse me again.. Why did Toliver have only 3 receptions? Why did RS disappear in the second half. Why didn't Murphy get more carries? Maybe there are good answers for that. I dunno.

Great?? I don't think I'd say great. But good enough for 10 wins? Sure.
Without the turnovers and the absolute crazy momentum swing of a called back LSU touchdown and then the subsequent longest passing touchdown EVER against the tigers the game would've been at least 44 to 10..
Luckily things like turnovers and penalties can be cut down quickly.

Did you watch the game? It was 2 plays out of 57.

Here's the break down since you didn't watch the game:

57 total offensive plays
7 touches for Shep (5 runs & 2 catches)
4 catches for Rueben Randle
3 catches for Terrance Toliver

Total: 14 touches for our bigtime players on offense out of 57 offensive plays. That's not even 25%. Ridley gets 19 rushes and 2 catches and you can't get Shepard the ball more than 7 times?

I'll reiterate: If we don't feature our playmakers in this offense, we are going to have a hard time winning an SEC championship.

Hate it when that happens.
We're gonna have to get our streaking playmakers to drop at the 25 so we can work on our offense.
