LSU didn't hit the ball first. Our player got hit before the ball got to him. That's kick catch interference.



My understanding is that if the players makes a move towards the ball (like the LSU player did last night), they're fair game.

Definitely a weird play. Don't think I've ever seen that circumstance before.

why doesn't anyone point out the LSU player should NOT have been in the ten yard zone?

You are correct. That was the correct call. It was a freshmen mistake.
He is fair game regardless and the NC team did NOT hit the ball, they hit the player. the ball hit the LSU player (Blue?) I think.
