according to the former team doctor
honestly, i'm ready to just ship anelka, evra and the old guards sorry asses out and let BLANC start raising the youth. by the EUROS they would be contenders and by 2014 they'd be sick

Former France team doctor Jean-Pierre Paclet has defended Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka's role in Les Bleus' World Cup meltdown and blamed Arsenal's Samir Nasri for causing problems in the team in recent years.
quote:
''Here was a kid with a dozen caps looking down on players with a hundred. Scarcely believable,'' Paclet claimed in extracts from his book L'Implosion. ''His behaviour gets on the nerves of almost everybody and he has the gift of really annoying Henry, Gallas and Patrice Evra.
''Most of all, the relationship between Nasri and Ribery was very tense, from the time they were together at Marseille. They were more like kids in a playground rather than professionals on a pitch.
quote:
''When Domenech went to see Anelka at Chelsea last season, Anelka warned him, let him know that there was no point taking him to South Africa if it was to play him in a position he didn't like,'' Paclet wrote. ''The problem with the French team wasn't Anelka. You have to understand he is loved within the squad, immensely popular, even if he's introverted.''

Even though I'm an Arsenal fan and love Nasri's play, I have heard stories of him in the past so it wouldn't surprise me if it were true. Maybe being left out chipped away at that sense of entitlement. He's a very talented young player and it'd be a shame if he torpedoed himself by being a dick.

Should be hung for his role in the failure against Mexico.

what's the source for this article? Nasri wasn't even called up for the world cup. I don't understand how he was the linchpin of the problem in SA

Did he frick with the team via Skype in South Africa?
I can see where he might've ruffled feathers in the past, but from what I can tell the only major tournament he's played in was a brief appearance at the last Euro and scarce glimpses during WC qualifiers.

Have you ever heard anything about him being a negative in the locker room at Arsenal?

No, but from what I've heard/read we don't have a particularly cohesive locker room in general so I doubt it matters.
I do remember earlier reports of Nasri being an irritant while on duty with France. Obviously, as leauxgan said, he doesn't stand to blame for the WC debacle.

not really. then again locker room drama seems to be pretty tight lipped (at least at Arsenal). Rumors and Adebayor and Gallas being problems leaked out, but those could just be hindsight sour grapes coming out from supporters?

With the addition of Koscielny, the French clique at Arsenal could re-enact the film "La Haine."

what french art house classic was allegorically displayed when gallas and and silvestre linked the back four? maybe The Discrete Charm of the Bougoisie, where our problems at times seemed surreal and darkly comic (the stoke match, either time we played united)?

I'm pretty sure Toure and Gallas's first bust up occurred over differing interpretations of the dream sequences in Belle de Jour.

I thought Le Monde du Silence by Louis Malle foreshadowed, metaphorically what would happen to the French National Team at some point in the future.

Except I don't remember the scene in La Haine where the slutty Russian tennis player starts a fight by blowing the other guys.

Did Sam's g/f do this? Awesome.

Not that I know of, but I can only imagine what a slut she is. Chain-smoking Russian tennis player who pretty much retires before her 22nd birthday, with not even 5% of Kournikova's financial security.
