jr, I was there a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed Union Oyster House.. Some people call it a tourist place, but, lots of locals were there. It's the oldest restraunt in America, and has some really neat stuff on the wall, and the old building is interesting to walk around in.. Great raw bar,,,Otis reccomended to me, and I enjoyed...

Oya-One of the best sushi places in America.Rated as the number one new restaurant in America in 2008. The flavor combinations were amazing and unlike any experience I have had before. $$$$$$ though.

Craigie on Main- Great contemporary American food. Order seafood here. This place uses a pig in its advertising but is like the opposite of Cochon (where seafood is not good and pork is). At Craigie the seafood was great and prob better than anything I have had here in NO (their non-Seafood stuff was great as well). Casual Bistro style restaurant.

You will need reservations at both places.
