Miles talking about QBs

On Jefferson:
So, he "has to" do these things, but is he?...
Guess not. At least not yet. So, was there any good news?...
Really? Accepting of his role as opposed to what? Demanding a position change? Quitting the team? So far, not one single indication that he IS doing what he HAS to do. But not to worry, we still have three whole weeks before the opener. Surely, three weeks of practice will accomplish what 14 starts and two full years of practice hasn't, right?
Whoa! What was that? He has to be tough and kicking him in the tail is great guidance? That sounds like criticism is GOOD. Surely, that can't be possible, can it?
On Jarrett Lee:
So, it's not impossible that he might play, but we're not planning on Jarrett Lee, our 2nd string QB, getting on the field in a game. So, I guess stories about his improvement over the spring and summer, competing for the starting job, etc. were all bullshite?
Which apparently Miles has not seen. But he could still play if...
...what? If it is an advantage to have him in the game? If he's not executing well enough to even be challenging a starter who is "getting there" and "a work in progress", how could it be "a more definitive advantage" to have him in a game?
So, based on Miles comments, the conclusion has to be that Jefferson isn't there yet, and Lee isn't a threat to win the job because he's even worse.
Great. The only encouraging thing is that nobody is less accurate in predicting the performance of LSU football players before the season than Les Miles. We can only hope he's as wrong about the QBs this year as he was about the OL last year.
On Jefferson:
quote:
He has to see that the quarterback position is more than just one of eleven guys that just calls the play and runs it. It is different. He has to run the offense, understand what the play is designed to do and how to attack the defense. He has to put some of those young players into position for us and communicate effectively so those players that need a coach on the field can turn to a quarterback and understand.
So, he "has to" do these things, but is he?...
quote:
He is getting there and it is a work in progress
Guess not. At least not yet. So, was there any good news?...
quote:
I think he is very accepting of his role

One thing about it, when you have a tough man at quarterback leadership will eventually come to him because he has to be tough. Kicking him in the tail is generally great guidance for a guy that has some tough skin."

On Jarrett Lee:
quote:
I don't think it's inconceivable that Jarrett Lee would get on the field in a game, in the first game or somewhere down the road. Right now it is not without possibility, but it is not something we are planning on.

It would have to be greater execution on Lee's part
Which apparently Miles has not seen. But he could still play if...
quote:
maybe if it is a more definitive advantage. I like how he is competing, so at some point in time where it is an advantage to have him in the game we could see that.

Reading into it a little too much?

Are you a lawyer.....? I think I need either a double-strength Tylenol or a double-Scotch.

Do you always have to dissect everything Miles says? I really think you're reading waaaaaaay to much into Miles' comments to the press.

I think that is what every fan has been thinking/fearing since their mediocre-to-awful performance in the Spring Game.

Just not very good analysis

This has got to be beneath someone who says that this will be his 40th year of following LSU football.

Oh dear god, feel better now?
Ever heard of over analyzing something?

Dude, I watched the Crowton video and the Chavis video, but I intentionally didn’t give myself brain damage by watching the Miles video. Apparently, you haven’t figured that out yet.

Did Miles fish all summer? I am really starting to doubt my support for him the last couple of years.
JJ has a full year under his belt, he can either handle the job or he can't. If he doesn't know his role at this point he will never be a QB that is worth a shite.
What the frick have they been doing all offseason?

2 words...."Coach speak". Now give me a 2 page double spaced essay on the matter.

I'm literally laughing at you right now.
There are some legitimate things to complain about with respect to Miles and things that have occurred.
However, you managed to put together an ultra weak point by point criticism. Nevermind that you argue point by point as if you were engaged in an interactive debate rather than snippets of quotes generated from specific questions.
That was pathetic man.
