O line and D line. We need to be able to run block, which will give Jefferson time to throw the ball if we can run. The d line needs to put more pressure on the ball to allow the lb and backfield to roam free and make plays on the ball.

Right now LSU only has J Jefferson QB who is good but no. 2 is shell shocked and almost worthless. Miles and Crowton had better dial up Sheppard as QB for no.2 and start practising him today as a direct snap QB but are they smart enough to do this? Believe me, LSU opponents know that if they can knock JJefferson out of the game the way ala. did last year they can win the game with the present no. 2 as QB.
If JJefferson played the entire game last year against ala. as well as 2008 LSU wins both those games and ala. knows this.

To have a top 10 yr:

The OL is without a doubt our biggest worry. If can't run the ball and protect the QB, u can't be top 10.

Any HS HC will tell u that on offense, your team will go only as far as your OL will take u.

My 2nd worry would be the D-line. They need to control the LOS better than last yr to free up the LBs to make stops at the LOS or behind and to let DBs take their bliz shots.

DL-- are we going to have enough size to keep teams from running over us??

i dont understand everyones worry about the dline. our dts dont have to be over 300 pounds to stop the run.

In Crowton's case, you should be.

Not that GC hasn't fricked the pooch ever, but give us your coaching resume.

I will look at the 2 side by side and decide who has a clue about coaching in the SEC and who doesn't.

wating your time arguing with that guy.

Only took a week or so for me to see he truly has a high opinion of himself.

Looks to me he his shortchanging himself financially.
Being an SEC coach pays very well.

This is a retarded argument. I'm not applying for OC of LSU's team. Look at Crowton's coaching career and notice the obvious trend at every stop he's made, save La. Tech. Offenses start on fire and then plummet. It's because he can't develop offensive talent; he can only work with talent already in hand.

I don't need to have a 20 year coaching career to see that. And since this is pretty common knock on Crowton, I'm not the only one who's noticed it.

This has yet to be seen when a 300-330 lbs. offensive lineman is putting his weight on a 280-290 lbs. D-lineman for a whole game. In my opinion, it could definitely take a toll late in the game on the defensive player. Unless of course we are rotating the whole game, which it appears will be the case with as much young talent that we have there.

If you look at Crowton's coaching history, his offenses have excelled in his first year at a school when that school had a 5th year senior already there:

2007 - LSU; Matt Flynn (5th year senior), ranked #9 in the country for total offense

2005 - Oregon, Kellen Clemons (5th year senior), ranked #22 in the country for total offense.

2001 - BYU, Brandon Doman (5th year senior), ranked #1 in the country for total offense.

However, once these guys leave, and Crowton starts playing "his players" the offenses plummet.

so the diff between a #9 off and and #112 off is a 5th yr qb compared to a basically 1st yr qb.

Wow......Who would have guessed?
