re: Creepiest experience in the outdoors

Back in the mid 70's when I was 11 or 12 we were hunting the Red River area lease we had. They older kids always told stories of a thing called a Banshee. It was some form of flying female witch that lived in the tops of trees and only came out at night. Well in that area there are screach owls that can curl your hair when they scream. Well one morning early before daylight on the stand after a long night of frightning stories one of those fricking owls screamed and was very close. I froze and didn't move till my dad picked me up mid morning. Never been that scared ever again. Not even in Big Momma's bar up the road. I just knew that Banshee bitch was coming rip my head off.
