"This has been my spot for years" v. "First come first served/Early Bird gets the worm" debate?
I fall in the "This has been my spot for years" camp.

I really wouldn't dare do that btw.

ooooohhh! I love these debates. If anyone tries to take my spot... we are fighting.
Just kidding. We are going to move this year, so I plan on taking someone's spot.

those of you who have trailers... where do you park them? I vow to respect all tailgate squaters who claimed their piece of campus before me.

I enjoy other people's tailgating, so I don't have a spot. However, under what moral authority does somebody have to tell a young person who shows up to start tailgating, and all of the old hats say, "Move down Sonny, and take your crew and tents and move down. I've been tailgating on this spot since 1963"? Combine the current administration's outright hostility towards tailgating, and pretty soon, the young kid is at the Bon Marche Mall and never tailgates again.
While this is certainly the administration's goal (kill the tailgating, and concession profits will SKYROCKET), it is also blatantly unfair.
If you want the spot, get there first, period.

I don't get the "border wars" of tailgating but if a group of young kids really give shite to a guy that's been in the same spot since 1963 then those kids should be crotch punched repeatedly.

quote:I tend to agree with this, to a point. Somebody that shows up at 9:30 and says, "Get out of my spot", can kiss my arse. If somebody makes the effort to secure their spot, it's usually not a problem. The bigger issue I have is with these a-holes "saving" parking spots. No, I'm here now and I'm going to park there. Your buddy can find somewhere else to park when he gets here. I just drove two and a half hours to get to the game so that's my spot.

Parking spot holders are the best. I'm always there early enough for it to not be a problem but I watch it happen all day. It's quite comical what people think they can do on State owned University property.

people have tried to "steal my spot" before. My opinion is that there's plenty of room for everybody. If someone encroaches in "my spot", then I will make friends with them and move over.
But if I find out they post on TD.com, I am kicking some arse.

I am frankly "shocked" that LSU has not tried to alleviate this "problem" by selling "licenses" to tailgate.......
