I don't know specifics of how everything is organized, Alleva may have some say over her position as Director of Tiger Band but Director of Bands is decided by solely by The School of Music and Dramatic Arts. She did say this in her email.

"The announcement
of ³Director of Tiger Band² made this past spring was done to help alleviate
fears of ³change.² As it turns out, the title change does not enhance my
position at LSU, nor does the offer from Illinois."
