re: Zach Lee comes to LSU !

Whether Lee plays for LSU or the Dodgers, the national publicity LSU is getting from both the baseball media and the football media is a great thing.
If he does come play for our beloved Tigers it will certainly give the impression of LSU being a great college program.
It will also be a big feather in Les Miles' cap and relect well on him.
Hell, people will say it took five million dollars to lure him away from LSU!
If he signs with the Dodgers it will still shine a positive light on the LSU program. I have read three different articles that all stated Lee is making a choice between signing a ML contract with the Dodgers and signing with LSU, who has both great football and baseball programs.
Baseball nerds are questioning how a kid could get drafted by a traditional baseball power like the Dodgers and even think about wasting three years going to college.
These guys would give their left nut to have a cup of coffee with a major league team. They do not keep up with college football but will gain a positive outlook on the LSU athletic program from what they read about Zack Lee wanting to experience it.
The Los Angeles Times Doger blogger has almost the same take on Lee's selection from the Dodgers perspective:
and Posidodgers(who will say: "What a tremendous pick. A steal, really. The Dodgers will win this kid over and he’ll prove the right-handed Clayton Kershaw. When everyone else was shaking, the Dodgers stepped up.’’)

either way LSU looks like a great place for a college athlete to go.

No matter what happens, right-hander Zach Lee is going to prove a tremendous draft choice for Dodgers’ fans.
quote:---I guess they have Negadodgers(who will say: "They picked him knowing they won’t sign him. Come September, he’ll be throwing spirals for Les Miles. The pick is a fraud. There’s no way Frank pops for this kid when he won’t even spend to sign a proven starter.’’)
He’ll serve as a lightning rod for those cynical types who see darkness in every move the Dodgers make,
or for those who bleed true blue and are certain everything is done with the purest of intentions.
and Posidodgers(who will say: "What a tremendous pick. A steal, really. The Dodgers will win this kid over and he’ll prove the right-handed Clayton Kershaw. When everyone else was shaking, the Dodgers stepped up.’’)

Texas fans have too much class for that. I can't see them badmouthing LSU like that.

Haven't we learned anything from ZVR and Colvin last year? I understand that this is a different circumstance, but seriously this is an 18 year old kid being offered atleast a million $. If he REALLY wants to play football at LSU, all he has to do is sign with the Dodgers and take the money, retire 3 years later and walk-on at LSU as a millionaire (assuming he spent the money wisely) This will go all the way to the deadline, and he accepts the money the Dodgers offer him. Book it.

Hope he's here to stay.
But....if you get a $4 million signing bonus, it wouldn't really bother him to lose his summer school tuition money.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconrolleyes.gif)

new article with quotes from his high school coach, Rene Nadeau and our own Shea Dixon:
and as far as what he's doing in practice:
Daily Reveille
quote:
Bobby Reyes, Lee’s football coach at McKinney, said he predicts his former quarterback will choose to play at LSU.
“He’s told me all along ... he wanted to go to school, and he wanted to play both [football and baseball],” Reyes said.
Reyes said he talked to Lee about the potential of having to decide between LSU and an MLB team.
“It’s a decision him and his family will have to make,” Reyes said. “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it — that’s what he always told me.”
“He’s talented enough to play quarterback and pitch for LSU,” Reyes said. “He’s somebody that can balance the two.”
quote:
Shea Dixon, managing editor of TigerSportsDigest.com, said Lee may make his decision before Aug. 16, the deadline for drafted players to sign.
“Coach Mainieri usually asks his guys to give him some sort of heads up,” Dixon said. “I’m guessing it won’t come down to the last hour.”
Dixon talked to Lee before he enrolled in LSU, and Dixon said all indications point to the athlete joining the Tigers on the field.
“The impression I got is that he is looking forward to college,” Dixon said.
quote:
Rene Nadeau, college football analyst for ESPN and TigerVision, said LSU is the favorite to land Lee.
There’s a better-than-average chance he’s going to go to LSU,” Nadeau said. “The Dodgers’ situation with the divorce — that’s going to make him tough to sign. Money is just not available.”
Los Angeles has signed most of its draft picks, including the second and third round picks.
Ralston Cash, a high school pitcher from Georgia, and former LSU outfielder Leon Landry have inked deals with the Dodgers since the draft.
and as far as what he's doing in practice:
quote:
Dixon said Lee has started off strong in limited football practices this summer in Baton Rouge.
“From what I hear, he is impressing the coaches,” Dixon said.

Become a Servant of God.
There is no higher calling.

The money he'd get isn't that great, TBH. He's far better off staying in college and waiting to be drafted again, or heading to the NFL.
The signing bonus is what most MLB prospects end up living off of, since the minors pays chump change. That's the reason most prospects hold out for $3 million+ in signing money.

Are your sources trying the new spicy chicken sandwich? Ask them if its any good, I have yet to try it.
It's funny how much hype the Chic Fil A Spicy Chicken sandwich got. People were waiting in very long lines for a free fast food sandwich before it was officially released.

Hopefully he will be Miles' next big gamble as starting true freshman QB.

If he wins the job fairly, yes. If it's a desperation "what-have I got-to-lose" move no.
I think this year we get to see the real JJ. Having a running game will make a big difference to his outlook.
