whoass... mlb.com has a clip on catchers in the draft playing now.. out of the first 5 talked about, NO Gibbs.. what gives???

of course, all they could talk about was 'hitting', very little discussion about defense, other than the say the #1 guy will need 'training' to catch at the next lever..

this will be an interesting watch this evening..

Gibbs' arm is much to be desired right now

His arm isn't a problem.....a decent minor league coach can help correct his throwing problems.

when you have a kid like bryce harper in the same draft at the same position, it's gonna decrease coverage from anyone else at that position. Gibbs is still a top 3-5 round guy

This I agree with but during the 1st half of the year there was a lot of 1st round talk but I hear his defensive struggles (notably throwing out runners) cooled that a bit.

Any chance he goes low enough to come back? His ability to throw out runners was downright embarassing towards the end of the season. Even on the pitchouts his throws were way too high.

Bryce Harper will not play catcher at the next level. Will most likely be an outfielder.

He might play water boy at the next level if he can't get himself in check....his antics in the JUCO tourney were embarassing.

I'd love to have a team next year that included Hanover, Nola, Edward, Landry, Gibbs, Mahtook, Watkins, and Katz though with some Ranaudo for good measure

almost incited a bench clearing brawl, constantly stared down the umps and pitchers, and the final straw was arguing balls and strikes by drawing a line in the dirt trying to tell the umpire where the pitch was.....that last one got him tossed and suspended for 2 games which his team lost

Gibbs is a sandwich round guy, second at worst. He does all kinds of things well and is projected to be a solid average major league catcher. The thing with the draft is they will draft potential over anything else especially if they excel in one area defense or offense, which gibbs does neither. Whoever gets gibbs will be lucky and i would guess he would be in the majors in by 2012-2013.

not if he plays like he did in JUCO this year. His stats were just silly

This is true it is a well known fact that MLB will take a great statistics guy no matter what there craziness factor is.....but if Harper turns into another Manny or Sammy I might just off him.
