Maybe it'll motivate them. But, being ranked in that range to start the season makes it much more unlikely that you'll be in the mix of one loss teams battling for the BCSCG (not that I think we have a shot in hell of getting there).

That's not true at all. Maybe if you're a team that hasn't won recently. Pollsters give the bigger name teams the nod when it comes to one loss teams. LSU can get in the top ten in 4 weeks. Easy.

Win the SEC and it won't matter where you started. I guarantee wins over UF and Alabama will be plenty enough to get into the BCSNCG if LSU wins the SEC
