who else would want him as a backup?
somebody will give him a chance based solely on potential. They might think Oakland is the problem and not Russell. They may think getting cut woke him up. I'd put any money on it that if he's cut, someone else picks him up.

anyone with a history like this bad start to his career gets cut or traded for almost nothing which acts like a wake up call and he turns out to be a great player maybe even hall of famer, or do all players like this end up the same way a wasted career in the NFL

Non of the guys on the NFL Network agrees with you.Chavis, the ex Vandy player who played several years in the NFL, stated that JR doesn't process the defense fast enough to be an efficient quarterback in the NFL.
Not one said that he would be paid more than the league minimum by another team. Fortunately for JR, if cut, he would still be owed three million next season.

He could possibly stick as a second/third team QB on the right team. Will never be a productive starter in the NFL.
More likely, I see a possible future for him as an assistant manager of the Waffle House on Airport Blvd in Mob-Town.........
