I had a few beers when she told me this, but I swear that is what she said...I will go soon and spark up another conversation on them....whatever they are, the crab trap and the galley are a notch above any other boiled shrimp I have had.

There are tiger shrimp other than the moster looking ones mentioned in this thread but they are generally only caught in asian waters.

Thats what was confusing. When Im in a supermarket and see them advertise tiger shrimp thats my first clue that its frozen asian shrimp not gulf.

I've never had boiled shrimp from the galley, but I agree that the crab trap is looking down on everyone else when is comes to boiled shrimp. I also expect that the galley is serving louisiana white or brown shrimp, given that they make up nearly all of louisiana's local catch.

Back on the original argument though, when buying sacks of crawfish, I also find that they are generally dirtier when I buy in the NOLA area compared to further west. However, that's nothing a little extra cleaning, or buying from a distibutor that purges their crawfish in clean water, can't cure.

Tiger Attorney, not sure if it was the Galley are not,it`s been years since I have eaten on Metairie road. I remember eating at a place that fried only rock shrimp and they were really good.
