that's more like it. so many possibilities with that ending. whatever is happening Desmond has complete clarity of purpose now and nothing is stopping him.
I loved his line "what is the point of being afraid"

Well, we were lead to believe that Locke's dad did not push him from the window in the alternate timeline.
After Locke was hit, he looked like he did when he was laying on the ground after he was pushed from the window. If only Desmond had a copy of "Everything that Rises Must Coverge"

He looked pissed and he was bound and determined to kill him.

I don't know what I'm talking about here, but what if the alt universe is what happened if the MIB got off the island. And he got off the island in John Locke's body and Desmond was running over the MIB?????

Maybe MIB can't leave the island without a body and if Des kills Locke in the alternate universe then his body is no longer usable.
Really don't know what to make of this.

I think it's kind of like how Uncle Stu used Charlie as an example a week or so ago about wanting a death wish. He's already dead in Parallel 1 so his death doesn't really matter in the Alternate. Same with John Locke, he's been dead. He's just clearing up the picture a bit.

I like cajunrevolution's take too. Either of those could be possible I guess.

The simplest explanation is that Desmond somehow knows that some kind of intense trauma is the trigger that causes Locke to remember the events of the other timeline.
Locke opening his eyes is reminiscent of every "eye-opening" scene in the series, a couple involving Locke I believe.

Well, to expound a bit, if you think back to Locke in the flashbacks in the Alternate he really didn't have a sense of purpose. He was mundane in everything he did. He seemed happy but still conflicted, kind of just wandering around.
I think he killed him so when the Parallels collide there won't be any discrepancies in the timeline/characters.

well he would be taking a huge risk of killing him by running him over in a car. He could have easily died there, but like someone said, maybe since he's dead in the island timeline he's like charlie was and it doesn't matter

I think Desmond's intent was to kill Locke. Any explanation that does not include that in it is lacking IMO.

uncle stu and OMLandshark....what do you make of this??? is desmond really dead???
Posted on 4/13/10 at 9:16 pm to tuck
seemed that way to me. you can't expect to run someone over full speed and not think they wouldn't die.

John Locke is dead and no longer plays any role in plot development. That's been clear from the beginning of this season. Even if Locke remembers his constant wouldn't matter as there is no alternate side that connects with one specific moment/person. It's like looking into a mirror and waving but your shadow doesn't wave.

You also shouldn't survive an 8-story fall out a window.
