Not only that, but he wasn't doing it for spectacle. In fact, he tried to hide it, but was found himself at the wrong place one night, and the rest is history.

There are few people in this world that I am more willing to forgive than that guy. From everything I've heard about him, he's a great person, even if he was gullible enough to get mixed up with some less than stellar associations.

this plus hopefully age has brought him more wisdom in his decision making...

This. Sometimes, a young guy has the courage to do something that turns out to be dumb. We have all done that (although probably not on such a grand scale).

Has he changed his ways? Does he still feel the same way? I mean, if in fact it was an issue of him being gullible and has since apologized, that's one thing.

But, if he is the same guy who has the same opinion and would make the same stance, then why would you expect someone who disagrees with that to be over it?
